Rebarrel Opinions
I have a FN action with a mag bolt that is chambered in 30-338 win mag. Don't shoot the 30 mag anymore just cuz I'm old and don't like the thump. Thinking about rebarreling to a 6.5 PRC. Will the long action be a problem doing that? Opinions? -
Construction loans
We are walking away from new construction. Selling the land and moving to somewhere we can afford to live. We have done a lot of work on the land and can sell a a substantial profit. Take the money to support a remodel on an existing home. A lot less headaches.- brokfut

Construction loans
Wife and I are looking to do a construction loan to build a house. Bank is writing the loan at 300K but I think we can do it for 200K. What happens to the left over funds? Does the bank apply them to the principal or do they rewrite the note? Not happy looking at the ARM the are offering...- brokfut

Hornady CX bullets
I just loaded up a bunch of 150 gr CX for my 280 AI. Don't have load data from Hornady but have been advised to use GMX data. I compared data from Barnes, Nosler and the GMX and went out and shot a bunch of groups. There is no rifle range within a 3 hour drive so I set up along side a Forest...- brokfut

280 AI load
Loaded up some fire formed 280 AI with Barnes TTSX 140 gr and got this group. Started with 53 gr IMR4350 and went up to max of 56.7 gr listed in Barnes data. 53.5 gr was the sweet spot but no pressure signed at max. Everything above 53.5 opened up 1.80 to 2.25. Ok you Oregon deer hunters
I don't know much about the Steens except that it is suppose to be a good unit. I put in for that one but drew Malheur River, which I know nothing about... You know anything about it? -
Partitions or CX for Oregon mule deer
I have drawn a tag for Maleur River unit in eastern Oregon and need to work up a load for the 280 Ackley Improved. I had about 150 rounds loaded for the 280 Remington and fire formed a bunch of cases for the Ackley. I have about 1/2 a box of Nosler 140 gr Partitions, 1/2 box of 150 partitions...- brokfut

Chinook on the lower rogue for a mule deer?
Will take a couple of people on the lower Rogue for King Salmon in exchange for a shot at a mule deer. I'm old and can't do the vertical terrain anymore but love being where the game is. Pac-Nor Barrels and Services?
I visited their new place and was impressed with the whole operation... they are using WWII machinery. Said they bought new lathes and milling machines and could't get the same degree of precision as their old machines so then acquired old machines, rebuilt them, and are getting great results. -

I had my 280 Rem rebarreled by them and it is an absolute tack driver. 200 yard groups were sub MOA with 5 different bullet/load combos. They got it the end of last May and it took them about 16 weeks to get it back to me. I'd highly recommend them. -
Hornady CX load data for 280 Ackley?
I have a box of 150 grain CX in 7mm I want to load for hogs in Northern Cali. Can't find load data without spending $$ for Hornady Loading manual... Anybody load these and willing to share some info. I would appreciate it if you can.- brokfut

Amazed with the new rifle
The stock is the original to the rifle. When I got it back from them I had to hogg out all the old bedding and open the area around the chamber then rebed everything. took a little work but I am one of those weird people that believes that the more of my self invested in the project the more I... -

Turnaround was about 16 weeks I think. the finish is cerakote Savage Stainless. was done by Earnie at Gunners in Brookings, Oregon. Earnie was a gunsmith at PacNor for many years before opening his own shop. PacNor sends all their cerakote work to him for final finish I think. -

When I had my old rifle rebarreled by PacNor I really expected it to be a good rifle but this thing is amazing. Neighbor and I went to the mountain yesterday to do some shooting. I had a mottly collection of 280 Remington ammo that I wanted to fire form for the new 280 Ackley. 140 grain nosler... -

Wood stock on a Browning stainless stalker A-bolt
Here is one that I just did. FN Mauser with new PacNor stainless barrel, prone brake and cerakoted by Gunner's. The stock is the original so the action is bedded. Had to take out all the bedding from the old barrel channel.
