I prefer being able to see 'em and then go after them, but at the same time we've also been successful getting in the woods and going after them....
We're heading up on Wednesday!!! Hopefully this year will find us hauling a couple bulls home with us. The weather looks like it's gonna...
Here's the best.....
Last year we went into town to get supplies and found out Dale's wife went into the hospital for what we were told were labor pains (we later found out after we were back home that she got a little dehydrated and went in for an IV or something like that).... Needless to...
That dude was just an accident fixin to happen. I'd prefer to be as far away from one of those big dudes as possible. Seeing him on TV he either had balls he needed to carry around in a wheel barrow or was a complete idiot. Either way, it doesn't matter any longer.
I like the idea of going to the elk refuge and shooting a dozen or so and then getting the game warden to help us score them. I don't think he'd mind a bit, do you?
The Elk Inn is totally awesome. I loved waking up in the morning, opening the window and seeing elk, big ass elk standing only a little ways in front of me. Especially since I was in a nice warm room. Doesn't usually happen that way!!!!
Anyways, watch out for elky. I fell into the trap of...
Hell Elky... Why don't you try the high fenced ranch on the east side of the road heading out of town. I've personally seen thousands of cows in there.....
Thanks guys....
Actually the horses this year were awesome except for a couple seconds... That's what happens when you go renting horses for the week. I'd still rather deal with these issues than have to take flatland horses up to the mountains.
Dale & I were talking and the motto of this...

Well, the time has come to say that we got a bull. Actually, if Dale and I could shoot worth a $hit we would have had two bulls..... I ended up with a nice 5X5 that had one of his points broken off. I'll get Dale to post the pictures (go figure I work for a computer company, but don't know...

The country we're hunting in this year is steep, steep, steep. I'm pretty sure I remember the rules of thumb when it comes to shooting up or down elevations, but wanted to get a couple others beliefs to make sure I'm not smokin' crack down here.
We don't have many chances to shoot at...
Elky... The problem with taking time off is it seems like everything twice as $*cked up when you get back. We ended up going in about 6-7 miles before we found what we were looking for. Great high mountain meadows with water.... Didn't see any elk this trip, but I had my brother with me...
Good luck elky. I left that mulie tied to that tree up there. Let me know if you need directions!!!!!!
I wanna see some pics.... Soon....
