have really enjoyed watching the thermal drone deer recoveries on YT. I am a proficient tracker, and believe that tracking and recoveries to be a strong suit of my hunting, but I can definitely see the benefit of a thermal drone for those poor hit scenarios.
Has anyone on here bought one...
Out of my 3 kids, I always thought my daughter Grace would be the least likely to really enjoy hunting. Gracie is a very sweet, gentle, kind, and deep thinking girl, and even though I exposed her to hunting at a young age, I always figured it wasn't going to be part of her personality. Turns out...
I only get one buck tag a year here in my home state. I'm usually looking for a good whitetail, but when I spotted this big framed Muley, I was immediately hooked. Thankfully for me, his mind was on the rut, and he never noticed me closing the gap behind him. I ended up getting some super...
After tagging early on a great buck this past fall in SK, I kept on hunting for a fall black bear. I waited until the last day to drop the string, and as sometimes happens in hunting, things didn't quite go as planned. It was a good learning experience and a fun opportunity to be able to sit and...
Growing up, I was a country boy stuck in the city, but I dreamed about someday getting the chance to hunt Big-Bodied, dark-racked Canadian whitetails. I finally got the opportunity to up to Saskatchewan this past fall, and it was a trip I'll never forget!
Hope you enjoy!
It's difficult to try and film yourself on a backcountry trip, especially when you are trying to wrangle horses, and most importantly kill an elk, but I did my best to just that this past year.
Maybe this will help with the wintertime no-hunting-blues.....
Hope you enjoy!
It's almost that time if year again... When the rut is rocking and bucks are on their feet with their guard down. It's also one of my favorite times of year, because that's when my friends and family come to visit, and we feel like little kids again playing cowboys and Indians, but this time...
One of the best parts of hunting is the camaraderie that can be had when hunting with family and friends. This hunt was the first time my brother and I had hunted together in a long time, and we had a blast stalking this buck like a couple of hungry wolves. My brother Aaron is the epitome of...
This hunt was a brutally cold day, but my 11 year old daughter "manned" up and headed out with me for an evening hunt. She was rewarded for her efforts. and made an excellent shot with the little ol' 22-250. Good times and lots of smiles.... and cold fingers!
My wife doesn't have much time to hunt with me these days, but on this particular day I was able to coax her out of a warm bed on a Saturday morning to go out into the wind swept prairie, and put the chase on a big, rutted up buck. She wasn't too happy with me at first, but felt a whole lot...
Definitely one of the best hunts of my life, including being very surprised how big this buck was. I knew he would be my personal best as I started the sneak, but I had no idea he was quite as big as he was. I was using a .22-250 that I had bought for the kids and my wife that year, with 60...
I was not able to get out this year to bear hunt, but this particular hunt was the best evening sit I've ever had. I had multiple bears in and out all night long, and was able to witness a lot of bear behavior that was fun to just sit and watch.
There had been a big boar coming into that...
Often times when I'm stressed or want to imagine a place of solitude, I think on my elk spot, the different draws, timbered hillsides, the magical mornings I've spent creeping up to a herd of bugles, or waking up 2 hours before daylight to the sound of rain hitting my teepee and snuggling back...
My 12 year old daughter had the good fortune to draw her 1st pronghorn antelope tag this past fall. We had a great time looking for speedgoats, but we weren't able to get out for the opener weekend, which made for a tougher hunt, but ultimately more rewarding.
I bumped the kids up this past...

Currently shooting 2015 Hoyt Nitrum but am noticing it seems to be getting loud. Thinking about trying out a Mathews, as they seem pretty darn quiet, dead in the hand, and smooth. What's your opinions on the quietest bow in the last 2-3 years-current?
Surprised they actually don't advertise as...
