Thought i would kick us off this year with a winter garden update.
Several different varieties of lettuce going with succession planting as well, lacinato Kale is starting to mature, Savoy cabbage got bit a little by a short freeze, brussel sprouts I just thinned out today for some more elbow...
On vacation at our place in Virginia. Took a day to slide off to an Appalachian stream and try my luck. Nothing ideal about this time of year but a new years day fishing trip was worth it on its own merit. I managed a tiny bit of luck for the day
Just noticed I'd first signed up on HT on December 15, 2015. It's been a decade of learning, sharing, observing, and developing some long distance friendships. Let's see what the next decade brings...
Thanks @Big Fin for the platform
From my thread on my snipe success this season I ventured into this recipe on behalf of @GoGriz. I will admit I did take a few liberties with the recipe. First I spatchcocked the birds instead of just splitting themcovered them with mayonnaise as a binder for the seasoned flourcast iron jacuzzi...
came up 2 short of a limit on a short trip to the marsh. Gave the ducks a pass today this late in the season. Going to be looking for wood ducks from here on out.
I've never really targeted these fish before. Giving it a go at hurdling the learning curve. Think it was an ok start. Definitely not a bad way to spend turning 50.
Are they basically like buying waders for waterfowl hunting or are there stark difference that have to he evaluated and considered? Newb seeking insight.
Been a lot of years since I've last fly fished. Had some time off while I was in Virginia so I took advantage of the opportunity. Had a lot of fun catching these Native Brook Trout. This'll help the waterfowl off-season go by better.
a bird and trout knife I ordered from an amazing talent out of South Georgia. Shes the most beautiful thing in the wide world. (Said in Forest Gump voice).
Pretty sure by definition, Oregon truffle butter is pucky.
I will concede I am a rookie when it comes to this philosophy so I am open to further education.
I managed to find a few today. Small small weather changes for us and they showed up. Say roughly 40 teal total. It was enough to put a limit on the strap. Now the wait for first phase.
seen way more of these today than I saw Teal. Not a single bird in sight. But I was on the water where I long to be with the benelli ready to do work. I'll try the river tomorrow for wood ducks while they are in.
I've never flown with a weapon to a hunting destination. My apologies for not doing a search but with the cost of checked baggage what and how do I do this the most effective and cost efficient. Possibly flying Frontier airlines
so I gave this a shot last night into today. Got some raw milk from a friend and went to work on a simple recipe. As you can see from the second picture one jar converted to yogurt and the other didn't quite convert. It's cooling now so sampling it will probably be done tomorrow. Interesting...
Hit the water last night over on the gulf for some inshore gigging action. It was mullet and sheepshead everywhere. Weather wasn't exactly perfect as the wind never laid down to smooth the waters surface for clarity but we managed to stick a few.
