    Sheep mount

    Got my bighorn Euro mount back from the taxidermist. I found a dead mesquite big enough to cut a slice from and after lots of sanding to get the saw marks out I covered it with clear epoxy. It's about 2" thick. I think it turned out pretty nice. (y)

    Sheep meat any good?

    I know I'm getting ahead of myself but I have a question for those few of you who have taken a desert sheep. Is the meat good to eat? Does it taste like mutton? I do like lamb chops but those come from fairly young lambs.

    My 2023 elk hunt

    Day 1 looking over some good looking elk country. Only spotted a cow and calf. Day 2 ankle is quite broken. 🤬 Spent 7 hours at the ER in Ely. It's going to require surgery. Needless to say elk hunt is over on morning of day 2.

    We went in the Scheel's in Reno yesterday and I saw that they has a pretty decent supply of 30-06, 7mm Rem Mag, 308 and several others that I didn't go down the aisle to check out. They also had a lot of .22 in several brands. If you're in the area you may want to check them out.
