New to muzzleloading
I'm glad that you are enthusiastic about muzzle-loaders for hunting. Mine is an older CVA Optima that shoots 295 grain Power Belt bullets very accurately. Ghastly wound channels every time resulting in quick death to the animal. Years ago, I tried Hornady 300 grain bullets designed for 44 MAG...- T.R.

Question - hunting book for grandson
I bought a new deer hunting book for my grandson's b-day which is not for several months from now. But I am also interested in reading this book. Do you think it would be alright if I read this book before gifting it to him? Hoping the binding does not show use. Please share your opinion...- T.R.

35 Whelen and The Wild Boar Wars
This wild pig was toppled with my 35 Remington which has far less velocity than your 35 Whelen. But the pig dropped and rolled downhill. Live weight estimated at about 180 lbs. Never knew what hit her. TR -

Still Hunting Mule Deer in the Mountain West?
The Black Hills National Forest is located on both sides of the border between Wyoming and South Dakota. I've found these vast public lands ideal for still hunting or spot and stalk hunts for mule deer. For these hunts, I do not require a long range rifle. 30-30 is a keeper! TR -

Washington blacktail
I hunted coastal blacktails within northern California for many years. The antlers of mature bucks grow thick but not many points compared to Sierra Mountain muleys. Thanks for sharing! TR -

In your opinion what 3-5 rifle calibers are best for Mule Deer?
.308 for long distance shots. 30-30 for stalking close for a shot within reasonable distance. TR -

Round Nosed Bullets, in an era of high BC addiction, anybody else use them
I really like the performance of Remington Core lokt ammo in the 180 grain round nose configuration for my .308 rifle. Good accuracy and exceptional expansion and penetration. It hits hard like the faster 150's but has the momentum to provide bone breaking penetration. TR- T.R.
