    Weird highway warning signs

I know we have a few members from Saskatchewan on here. Maybe they know how this town got its name?

    Mystery Ranch Big Sky reviews?

Never mind, I missed out on this deal. Someone else bought it right away.

    Snatch blocks

If you’re using it for firewood I doubt the synthetic will hold up very well to that kind of use without fraying. I have about 5’ of chain on the end of my steel cable, helps to prevent kinks when wrapping around a log.

    Let’s talk about firewood

I cut a lot of wood each year. It used to be our only heat source so I’d cut 6 or 8 cords each year. When we moved to this house (state housing provided by the fish hatchery) about 5 years ago we couldn’t have wood heat anymore. But I already had a good saw, cables & snatch block, etc. so now...

    Let’s talk about firewood

Same here, I really kinda enjoy it. And a good excuse to spend a day up in the mountains.

    Clutch replacement

Just wanted to give everyone an update, the project is finally finished and the truck is back on the road. I was away from town for work for awhile and couldn't work on it but I finally got the new hydraulic line put in and bled. Shifts nicely, no visible leaks... I'd call it a success...

    Mystery Ranch Big Sky reviews?

Good catch, I guess I didn't read the label closely enough! Anyone have any experience with this particular pack?

    Mystery Ranch Big Sky reviews?

I found this used Mystery Ranch pack listed for sale really cheap, the guy says he doesn't know anything about it, model, size, etc, but that its in great shape. Anyone know what pack this is? Doesn't seem to match anything I can find online... Thanks

    Buck hanging with fawns?

Id be willing to bet that's a doe with antlers. There's one I've seen near my house the past few years, and she looks very similar. The one that I've seen does not shed her antlers like a buck, she's had the same little set of spikes for atleast 3 years now that I know of.

What trucks do you regret selling?

‘97 Chevy 2500. 6.5 diesel. Extended cab, long bed. Sold it because I was tired of paying for diesel, but that thing was unstoppable.

    Hunt lead free SD

I’m making the switch to lead-free this fall. Montana used to have a similar rebate program but as far as I can tell, it is no longer available?

    Packable Rain Gear

I believe rain gear from marmot, NorthFace, OR, etc is just as good as the big “Hunting brands” you’re just not paying twice as much for a name and a fancy camo pattern.

    Clutch replacement

Well, it’s all put back together, except when I went to bleed the clutch I discovered a leak in the hydraulic line between the master and slave cylinder. Can’t get one locally so I’ll have to order one. Leaning toward the flexible braided stainless line over the hard line. Anyone used these...

    Tarp over wall tent

I used a tent with an attached floor once and didn’t care for it. I had borrowed the tent from a relative so I was extra worried about keeping it clean, and it just seemed impossible to come in and out, stack firewood, etc without getting the floor dirty

    Tarp over wall tent

Thanks everyone. Sounds like I will plan to just run the tarp directly over the ridge and try to tie it out to leave a gap along the eaves. And yes, heat will be wood.

    Tarp over wall tent

I understand about condensation. I guess maybe I didn’t explain my question properly. I definitely plan to keep the tarp tied off higher along the side walls, leaving an air gap. My question was about along the ridge, if people just pass the tarp directly over the ridge of the tent, or if I...

    Clutch replacement

Nope, and definitely not trying to. But I am saving a lot of money and learning along the way. Thanks again for all your help and advice!

    Clutch replacement

Thanks again to everyone's help, the transmission went back in pretty smoothly. Now onto the transfer case, driveshafts, and exhaust pipe. Hopefully be back on the road by tomorrow evening. I know it seems like this job has taken all week, but I've only had a few hours to work on it each evening.

    Tarp over wall tent

For those of you who use a tarp over top of your wall tent, do you put the tarp directly over the canvas at the top, or do you rig up something along the ridge to maintain a gap between the tarp and the canvas?

    Clutch replacement

Yes, the alignment tool will slide in and out easily. I also cut the heads off a couple 3/8 bolts and rounded off the ends to use for alignment pins. Hopefully get the trans back in on Saturday.
