Hard to believe you guys are putting up fur already. I’ll probably start in December. Still very warm and buggy here in Kansas, but we’ll be getting after the beaver, coons, and bobcats once winter arrives.
I actually had it completely frozen in a couple other freezers. I moved it to this freezer maybe 10 days ago.
The biggest kick in the nuts is that i bought 2 freezer alarms last week. I just hadn’t installed them yet.
Yes i do have 3 kids. Im thinking about trying some tomorrow. otherwise...
Discovered my freezer was completely thawed today. I had just put all of my elk burger in it a couple weeks ago.
There is no foul odor at all. So I am wondering if it’s possibly still good? I probed the center of a package and it was 58.5 degrees. I opened a package and it looks good and...
Question for you guys with much more experience than me. We found a couple really nice muley bucks in W Wyoming while elk hunting. What are the odds that those bucks would be using the same area next season, assuming they don’t get killed this winter? Saw them last week (mid October).
I recently weighed the meat of a large bodied mature bull elk in the field due to my need to load llama panniers with accurate weights.
I ended up with 210 lbs of boned out meat.

I just received the tooth age results back from Matson’s on this public land muley I shot last year. How old do you think he is? I’ll post the results later.
I have aluminum trekking poles from Walmart. I’ve bent more expensive pairs in the past, but I’ve been using this pair for 5 years. I almost exclusively just use them for packing out meat, so they stay on my pack most of the time.
Not a limit, but we had fun! I left my gun in the truck and my boys took turns with the 20 gauge. My 11 year old connected on his 4th shot. His first dove and a fun evening.
yep and im taking 4 prime age male pack llamas. I am probably worrying too much, but i don’t want to be in a position of owing a good friend $30k. That’s why i think a reasonable insurance option would be a good piece of mind investment.
Anyone ever rent or borrow llamas and get independent insurance to cover the animals? Planning to use a friend’s pack llamas this Fall. He says not to worry about it, but ultimately it would be a bad situation if something happened to them. Just wondering if there’s some sort of simple...
7yo with very close supervision and assistance is what I have settled on. I do think getting these reps early will help them out immensely once they are more independent. They are already learning beginner mistakes, and seeing the effect of movement, wind, etc spooking game. My 7 year old is...
