Had a productive day got two baits out and did some scouting and will put two more out when we get back from our California trip. Poor timing on the trip lol. Seen a decent amount of deer tracks in the snow and now to see what will show up. Actually a person beat me to my one bait spot. Usually...
One of those days with not a breathe of wind by we did good a couple short of a limit. The bird either wanted to fly all day or came in beautifully
Crappy thing with evening shoot Is you miss out a on a good pile picture
Had big plans for a couple shoots this weekend but the second shoot they dissapered when we went to check on them the night before. It worked out alright tho had a good goose shoot visited some family had some nice relaxing family time, dig potatoes and got lots of housework done lol.
Started...
My buddies are all out chasing moose so I was left by myself today. Should have had a limit of geese but I couldn’t seem to make my mind up which bird to shoot to finish off my limit and whiffed.
Geese kinda came all at once but they worked amazing in the decoys feet down 10 yards. It was really windy and we wiffed the first two flocks pretty bad shooting in front of the birds and inky knocking down a bird a piece. After we got adjusted it was all good. Some day I’ll get a nice picture...
Birds flew way way early and then when shooting light hit they wanted to be at the other end of the field but we made due. None of the birds really decoyed nice but more drifted over 40 yards up. Was good to have my two labs working together. The yellow one was on his second hunt only. Had one...
Wanting to preserve the velvet on the spike elk I shot but don’t want to pay a taxidermist to do it. Seen things about velvet lock online but can’t find any in Canada. Anyone have any other diy things to try
Been bow hunting this area for a couple weeks seeing mostly cows with the odd bull. September 14th the night before rifle season opened I saw a cow and raghorn feed in this hay field at last light. Snuck in this morning nothing and then a rainstorm hit so I left. Tonight I was back out there...
Adopted a yellow lab this winter. Haven’t done much training yet since I’m not a fan of freezing outside and training. But he went on a little spring snow hunt. He retrieved one ross and old trusty duke got the rest. Overall pretty good with so little training he just needs to learn how to pick...
All ready for when the snow melts and the bears wake up around here. Looking at the weather looks like around April 20 we start to get nice around here
-20c with the wind but we put down 17 geese and the one cackler we shot happened to be banded. Shot a lot of waterfowl over the last 15 year and this is the first band I have ever seen in my life! Duke has fetched 1300-1400 birds in his 8 seasons alone and granted not all geese but still never a...
Hopefully get out once or more but it’s late for us. Needed more shooters. Had a dark goose tornado with them landing. A few shooters and we could have rained geese
Some people’s favourite thread. Haven’t deer hunted yet been busy chasing geese. Went out tonight and put one bait on public land tonight. My private land baits will go out in about a week when the cows come home. Had this guy come through this spot once. Actually had this camera set for elk...
Usually geese will follow the sound in during a foggy morning but these ines mostly just enjoyed flying. Didn’t help we were hunting a half section so they had lots of room To miss us. Not many came in but we shot good when they did and knocked out a 2 man limit of darks and a few ducks.
Was one of those days when you had to give them about 10 extra seconds cause they were moving so slow. We actually shot pretty bad on the first couple flocks cause they were so slow we were shooting in front. Fun times anyways with geese right in the decoys. One shy of a limit now time to dig...
Knocked out 2 short of a two man limit this morning before work. Duke made a couple awesome retrieves one was sailed bird he chased over the hill and sure enough a few minutes later he come back with it. The next was a cripple that started to get his wings as he was running up to it and it made...
Buddy and I went out this afternoon. Got some snows, ducks and he managed almost a limit of darks. Most ill prepared bird hunters as both the mojo and e caller were dead lol
The other day while getting setup for some elk calling I heard a twig snap. Through some elk calls out nothing. Few minutes later I heard it again and it was moving away. Figured it had to be a moose so let out some bull grunts raked some bush and he came grunting right in to about 20 yards...
