Just harvested an archery elk on a solo hunt. Pack wasn't a terrible experience but processing and breaking down a bull by myself isn't as easy as it once was. I hadn't quite finished when the muscle cramps started in. Couldn't hardly work my fingers and my forearms were knotted up.
I wonder...
I see that with an elite subscription to On X, you get a Moultrie cellular camera. How much signal does that require. I have very little at most of my locations. Does this require a subscription?
What are some suggestions for a shotgun sling that doesn't require drilling my stock? I have a Remington 1100 that would be nice to sling on a chuckar hillside when you need your hands free.
Anyone build a charcoal grill? I have a gas grill but charcoal is so much better for steaks. Everything I look at is cheaply made and spendy. I weld and feel like I could build something if I had a plan.
I'm going on a Wilderness elk/deer hunt intthe Frank Church. Never done this before and haven't a clue how much to tip our guide. My buddy and I will share the same guide and cook. Anybody have any experience with this?
I archery elk hunt in grizzly country and pack a Ruger .44 Super Redhawk for protection along with bear spray.
Just curious what kind of holsters are popular with everyone. I have a Mikes shoulder but it is cumbersome and also in the way of pack straps and binoculars.
Does anyone have any recommendations for packin Middle Fork elk guides on Idaho? I have a friend that has never hunted elk that would like a Wilderness experience and a chance at killing an elk with a rifle.
I have hunted elk and will go along because I want to see that part of the country. Any...
I'm relatively new to archery and have bought 2 releases for the 5 or 6 seasons I've hunted . I have a Scott and I'm using True Fire now that I've been using for the last 3 years.
It slipped out off my D-ring twice today, the second time resulting a pretty good shot to the nose with my draw...
I have a pair of Lowa Tibet GTX boots that I just had rebuilt by Lowa. They came back like new and I am very pleased. These are the best boots I have ever put on.
Any advice on what leather product to put on them? I used Obanaufs in the past. Might have misspelled that.
I'm pretty new to archery hunting and don't read a lot about bow technology. Wondering how long you can expect a string to last. My target accuracy has gone down hill and a friend said my string may have stretched making my anchor change. Thanks for any advice.
Anybody use a Montana Decoy for archery elk hunting? I felt like if I had one last fall it might have made a difference in my hunt a couple of times. Which ones do you recommend?
I end up spending a lot of the archery season in a stand. The harness that i use is a pain to get on and adjusted properly. Does anyone use one of those safety vests and do you have one that you would recommend? I am a pretty good size guy and need a stout.
I'll be trying to get an elk with my TC Black Diamond this November since I failed with my bow in N. Idaho. Does anyone else still use one of these inlines and what combination of bullet and powder do you have the best performance with. I cant seem to get any consistency with a Powerbelt and...
Anyone hear anything about California Ram success down in the Owyhee area of South Idaho this fall? Just curious what was going on down there in that area.
Any of you folks ever lucky enough to draw a Bighorn tag in the Owyhees? Any tips about best units to put in for and access issues and any other information you care to share. I would love to hunt that country and will be putting in for a tag this year.
After 14 years of putting in for this tag, and wondering if the fires would keep me out of the area I wanted to hunt, everything lined up and I got my ram. Had my son with me and he saw this sheep almost a mile away and we hiked off the river and by the time we got to him, he had bedded down...
I drew a tag on the Salmon in Idaho and have been on a couple of scouting trip getting a feel for a couple of the drainages in my unit. I have yet to locate any rams and am getting a little nervous as the season is approaching fast. I know that these sheep will move as the fall approaches and...
