Nevada Mule Deer - Unit 242, Rifle, Public Land, 10/29/2025

Son shot a perfect eater yesterday. 360 yards on heavily hunted public land. Thankfully only a few miles from the truck. The type of country we often hunt. You have to be quick, the deer move through the clearings and often a long shot is required. 360 yards is unusually close. -

Unfortunately not. NZ has very strict rules about bringing in meat etc. I gave it away to a friend and honestly I'm happy to be able to share. I'm heading out tomorrow to shoot a deer with my son to fill the freezer. -

I was there last week. Had a great time. Shot the only buck I saw, a small 4 point. -

It’s a shame CO doesn’t allow sharing of points for joint applications. I have 10 elk points that I don’t really have any plans to use. -

I actually had a late change of plans and hunted NV but plan to hunt WY next year near Cody.- Kiwi

Government shutdown and NWR's
I'm leaving for a trip to Jackson Hole / Yellowstone next week and am trying to figure out if the shutdown will impact my trip. Perhaps the National Elk Refuge and Yellowstone (I'm booked into the Old Faithfull and Mammoth Lodges) could be closed?- Kiwi
