    Preoccupation with Score

Here's a example of a recent interaction: They have an awesome 10+ day hunt that they have been telling me about for the last 2 years as it got closer...lots of hardship and beautiful scenery, culminating in getting their target animal, send me a bunch of pics. Its a hunt I would love to go on...

    Preoccupation with Score

I know a couple of people who, no matter what hunt they are going on, what animal they or someone else takes, it's always about the score. This scores better than that one, I wouldn't shoot that one, etc. They are totally fixated on score and I honestly get tired of all of their texts and emails...

    Increasing Warmth of Sleeping Bag

I contacted WM and they suggested the Sea to Summit liners. I ordered the Reactor Fleece liner...supposedly can add up to 14 degrees F depending on the rest of the system. Def gonna get some of those down booties as well. Goose feet gear looks like the ticket

    Increasing Warmth of Sleeping Bag

If I have a 20 degree bag, but need a 0 degree, can I wear goose down pants/a heavy base layer top inside the bag? While I prefer sleeping in boxers and a shirt, I'd rather not have to pay for another bag if there is a more practical way to accomplish the same thing I will have a 5R pad FYI

    Coastal AK/BC goat hunting seasons

What is considered a late season goat hunt in coastal Alaska or coastal BC as far as dates/time of year? Other than billies having longer hair than early season, what are some things that are unique about "late season" vs "early season" or "winter hunt"? TIA

    Trophy Qualities for Mountain Goats

In looking at various goat outfitters, some advertise 10" average, some say 9-9.5, some say 8.5-9+. Seems the coastal billies are biggest, and late season gives best odds for a "book billy". When I ask an outfitter about this they will usually give a range, but many will dismiss the horns and...

    Elk Rifle Conundrum

I appreciate all of the responses. My gut was to just roll with the 300, even if it's heavy. I'm definitely not a fan of the whole "long range hunting" thing. While I do practice at 600, I've never killed anything farther than 317 (mountain caribou). Last elk I killed was 275. Was crouched under...

    Elk Rifle Conundrum

Yeah that's definitely not me. I have a 600 yard range within an hour of my house. And being near the coast we good a good amount of wind. You have to qualify by putting 5/5 shots inside of a dollar bill on a fresh target at 300 with a Range Officer watching the whole thing to even be able to go...

I do have full sleeve tatoos. I haven't done any hard time, been in the military, or killed anyone (yet), but I can make a mean balsamic drizzle

I like the looks of those Seekins PH3s. I have lots of brass, RL19, dies for 7 mag so would stick with that

    Elk Rifle Conundrum

that’s actually a great idea but I run a suppressor on it, so like the short barrel Main issue with it for this hunt is it’s 10#. I had decided awhile ago its future use would be for bear and moose which are generally shorter range situations

    Elk Rifle Conundrum

I’m planning to go on a backcountry elk hunt this year where I need to be ready for a 600 yard shot. Here is what I currently have: 20 inch 270 22 inch 300 win 24 inch 7mm-08 I’ve run the numbers on all of these with loads I have on JBM ballistics and a 200 grain accubond out of my 300 win...

    Sheep Show in Reno

I live on the East Coast and am thinking of going to the sheep show. I make just over $135K/year, so after paying the mortgage and other bills, I really dont have much of a hunting budget left over. I do dream of hunting all the sheep, many of the goats, and just love being in the mountains...
