If you find someone to do special loads for you, you need to let them know if it's a Mark V or something else.
2 of my Mark V's have short ejection ports.
I don't know what base/mounts you have. These can make a huge impact on the ring height.
I use EGW one piece bases on all of my rifles that will take them.
EGW bases are kinda tall. But it allows me to use low rings for up through a 56mm objective.
Again, depends on barrel contour and such...
I lucked onto mine with a used Ruger 77 MKII in 257 Roberts.
Gunshop had it at $450.
I got them down to $400. 😁
Both my daughter and I took our first bucks with it.
A few coyotes too.
My daughter really grabbed onto it as she's recoil sensitive.
I had to build her a custom Mauser just to...
Sorry for the late response.
Since they have been annealed at the factory, I just apply lube inside the neck.
I do it in 2 stages. .223 to.243, then to.257.
After I'm done, I do anneal them.
I'm shooting a Savage Axis II with an E.R. Shaw 24" sporter with a 1:10 twist.
I mostly use it as my designated coyote rifle.
But I have used it deer hunting and taken a buck and a doe one year. Load was 100gr Ballistic Tips over RL17.
For coyotes I run either a 75gr Sierra HP Varmint or a...
257 Roberts or AI.
Once you get the dies, reloading is inexpensive.
PPU 7X57 Mauser brass necked down and trim. Done!
Light recoiling, accurate, and for some reason, the 25 caliber seems to kill above what it would suggest.
1:10 will handle anything up to 120gr bullets.
And really, if...
I've got 3 Vortex, 2 Redfields, 1 Tasco, 3 Sightron, 5 Crimson Trace, and a 1980s Simmons.
Make that 3 Redfields. I forgot the one that came on the German made Weatherby Mark V Deluxe, circa 1970s?
The only scopes I have ever needed to send in for warranty is the Burris Fullfields that I...
I'd keep her!
You'd have to ship the ammo hazmat. Almost the cost of a new box of ammo.
If I didn't already have 3 Mark V's, one in 7mm WBY already I'd definitely be interested!
Especially with the price of a new Mark V!!
Keep her, shoot her, and tell us the tales!
At distance, my ballistics calculator is never dead on for the first shot of a new load.
I often tweak the BC, and/or the velocity.
Nosler ABLR are typically 8-12" higher than the ballistics calculator at 800 yards.
@golfer,
Justin, personally, I wouldn't do it.
It's already a 300WSM. It's gonna be loud!
Less so with a suppressor. But still freaking loud.
Suppressors have shown to increase muzzle velocity. But not by a huge extent. Which helps with the shortened barrel.
But it's still a 300WSM...
In 20ga I have a Tri Star Cobra II pump.
And a CZ 720 gas semi auto.
The CZ was the expensive one bought new for $475.
The Tri Star new was in the $300 if I remember correctly.
Both have beautiful wood!
Both came with removable chokes.
For doves, you might want to look at the 28ga also...
As I've mentioned before, IF I decided to get a sshhhhh..
Then it would be a titanium can from Caylee's Cans.
At $185, wouldn't need to sell off any guns to afford it.
