I still drive my 1990 Chevy 2500 every day, only vehicle, including a trip from Montana to Michigan each summer. 350k on it.
Like someone else mentioned, it helps if you’re somewhat mechanically inclined.
Again, not antelope, but I had a friend in high school, shot a whitetail buck with a shotgun slug. Deer dropped right there. We both walked right up to it, looked at it then went back to get his 4-wheeler. Came back 5 minutes later, deer was gone. Followed blood 1/4 mile, never found him.
Got out today to shoot some of these and get them sighted in. Pretty happy with how they shot, I was just shooting off a rolled up coat across the hood of my truck, so don’t expect bench rest accuracy. Shots in the individual targets are from about 70 yards, the ones in the center cross of...
Update for everyone, I just received an email back from the USFWS, who confirmed that parcel is part of the USFWS refuge that borders it to the East. And is open to the public. They were unsure of why On-X shows some small pieces like that as just "USA" rather than USFWS specifically.
Anyone know what it means when on-X lists the owner of a parcel as “United States of America”. Not BLM, or USFS, or anything, just USA.
Is that public? The particular parcel I’m looking at is surrounded by other public land.
You’re right, it is a long article, and I’ll admit I usually despise anything written by rinella. My limited understanding of prions is that almost nothing can kill them, so I would be skeptical of the claim that they are not being spread more in the feces of the predators.
Not sure if they’ll be ice covered by then, but home run pond right in town and the base pond just north of town were just stocked with some decent size trout a couple weeks ago.
Finally got a chance to shoot some of these 143 lever hammers through my 30-06 today. Using IMR-4064, started at 52 grains and worked my way up to 56 where I started to see slight signs of high pressure. Think I’m going to stick with 55 grains. Those averaged just over 3200 fps.
5x5 bull elk a few years ago, I did not weigh individual quarters or pieces, but ended up with 210 lbs of meat after I was all done processing. I had added about 20 lbs of pork fat to the burger, so probably around 185-190 of straight elk.
Thanks. Yes, I definitely planned to call the first minute it opens. Kind of a bummer to find out there’s likely to be 5 other guys in there though, if I do get in. It’s not that big of an area, 6 separate hunters in there at the same time seems like way too many. I may have to rethink.
This one is administered by FWP. It’s an FWP number to call (region 4 office) on the Tuesday prior to the week you want to hunt.
I was just curious how the number limit works.
Just thought I’d throw it out there for anyone hunting near or passing through Lewistown MT. I spend most weekends cutting and selling firewood, I’d be happy to bring a load right to your camp, save you time and space not having to cut or haul your own.
It’s nice standing dead lodgepole or fir...
I usually just leave them alone, maybe wave or something. The only time I’ve checked the pictures on someone else’s camera was at a wallow I hunt almost every year, once I arrived to find a camera already there so I looked through the images but replaced the card without deleting anything.
I...
That’s pretty much what I thought, but it also seems like that would encourage people to exaggerate hunter numbers, i.e. making a reservation for yourself and 5 imaginary friends, in order to get exclusive access…
Which would then greatly inflate what the landowner is getting paid, because...
Does anyone know how the limit on hunter numbers works on a type 2 BMA in Montana? So when it says you can call on a certain date for reservations, and says “limited to 6 hunters per day”, if one person calls in first and reserves a date for just them, will 5 other people still get on for that...
