When using onx to provide driving directions to a waypoint, can I assume it defaults to roads open for public travel? (E.g. county roads, or open NFS roads, etc.) Not routing on BLM roads that might cross...

The issue with your current setup is likely the zoom lens. There's a better nikon zoom lens (20-40 MCII) but honestly those nikon ED spotting scopes really shine when mated with a wide fixed lens. You could get a new scope, or you could get a wide fixed 24x or 30x lens for your current scope...
I have a truxedo tonneau I got for $100 off FB and it has lasted well over 5 years...on its second truck now. Zero complaints, it stays secure and doesnt flap and is actually fairly waterproof.

Ive used the Sawyer squeeze mini but filling the bags can be a pain. Sometimes a pump is better for getting water from a small stream...used a msr Sweetwater and it was good, then had msr miniworks ex on my last trip and that sucked bc I forgot a brillo pad and I didn't have a good way to clean...
