    Griz or Black Bear?

I've seen many grizzly, none looked like a black bear. Try opening the close Pic with lens and see what mister Google calls it. The head is no way dished and no pronounce hump.

    Griz or Black Bear?

I'd shoot it in a heartbeat. It's a brown-phase black bear. Even at that range, you would see 4" claws. When you see a grizzly, there is no doubt. Like if you think it's a wolf but not sure, it's not.

Comment in Support of FWP Proposed CE in Central MT

I did comment in favor, but I have no Idea how they work. Do they give us any more access to use the land? Is it a sign-in and go kind of area? Is there a lot of hoops to jump through to use it? Or is it just protecting the area so our grandkids can stand outside a fence and watch the wildlife...

    Baby Eagle Learning to Fly

Absolutely cool!!! We were out last year and had a dead turkey fall from the sky. An eagle was trying to fly away with it and dropped it in front of us...

    Hunting with Crossover hearing aids?

I hunt with a guy who has two cochlear implants. He says they take a lot of getting used to. BUT when we are just shooting targets or prairie dogs, he just unplugs them and doesn't need ear muffs.

Flight ideas near or out of Lewistown, Montana?

Remember, in MT, you can not hunt for 24 hours after you fly.

    Preferred Upland Loads?

I reload my own, 1 oz or 1 1/8oz, depending on the hull I'm using. BUT I reload duplex loads of 7.5 and 5s. Half and half, 1200/1250 fps. OMG, it is a fabulous mix. I use it on partridge, grouse, and pheasants all year long.

Memorial day weekend roadtrip to R1

The end of May is normally the big weekend for bear harvest. BUT that's a normal spring, so it's anyone's guess.

    Hunting Montana

Antelope numbers are slowly climbing after the big Crash. 690 has lots of Block and BLM land. BUT there are Tons of hunters up there. Any big chunks of Block and BLM are magnets for non-local hunters. I mean LOTS of hunters.

    MT- M/S/G results 26

I put in for 58 years, never got one M, S, or G. I'm too old to do it now, so I have stopped. I did get a river brakes bull rifle tag about 20 years ago. I'm over that, too. Antelope, swan, and crane are all I put in for now.

"Compensatory Reproduction" in Coyotes, why killing them equals more coyotes and less deer

I read someplace the state of Montana introduced "Mange" to the coyotes in Yellowstone to try to limmit there populations. That didn't work either.

    Your preference with trigger lbs?

For hunting rifles, I like them to be just 3 pounds. If you use it in the winter and cold, your big puffy gloves will pull the trigger for you. Gophers, Prairie dogs, and paper ( no gloves), I still like no less than 2 pounds.

"Compensatory Reproduction" in Coyotes, why killing them equals more coyotes and less deer

I have been preaching that for years. I have seen it in action. I'm not complaining, I live to hunt coyotes, so please shoot some more.

What caliber/rifle/bullet would be suitable for taking a Terminator/iRobot?

OK, I have just the set up. I have a Rem 700 24" barrel, Leopold dial-up 4x12 scope, Hammer 200 gr bullets, 8mm Rem Mag, and it also has a "Dead Mule" in the stock. This monster spits out fire and bullets at 3220 fps. Make a very good 5-inch group at 500 yards. I have never checked on...

    Custom 6mm Remington

That 6mm is a wonderful round. 26" barrel 1x14 I'm guessing. I have one, I wish it was a 1x10. I push a BT 55 gr 4200 fps gophers vaporize. I use it for deer with an 80-grain TTSX at 3600 fps. Deer and antelope 400 plus never hear the shot...
