    25 RPM released today.

It is in the 6 lug Mark V and the 307. Both of which Weatherby makes. The Vangard is made by Howa, with perhaps a Weatherby stock put on it.

I think I have a defective gun book

Or the 7mm-08 HuntTalk. 😉 None of the Weatherby cartridges are on your list. Nor the 25-06, 284 Win. @mtmuley will be disappointed to see no RUM cartridges. No 338 Lapua. Definitely no PRC cartridges.

Let's Hear About your favorite Wheel guns.

Have you patterned the bird shot? My Taurus Judge with the 6" barrel leaves the paper clean at 25 yards. Unless the person is in the living room with you, you might want to switch to something else.

    DIY backpack meals $4-6 ideas?

I set the dehydrator for meat and let it run for 8 hours. Then baste it and put in for another 4 hours.

    DIY backpack meals $4-6 ideas?

Pork I have done Teriyaki, and a BBQ marinade. Chicken I've marinated in Italian dressing, herb and white wine, BBQ and Teriyaki. Depends on my mood.

    DIY backpack meals $4-6 ideas?

Most of my use is a day pack. But I sometimes spend the night outdoors. I'm mostly a water, dried fruits, oat bars, and jerky of some sort. While I can get these things from the store, I prefer to make it myself. I do use pork, chicken, beef and deer for jerky. Different seasonings for...

    Swift Sciroccoll Bullets

I got a box of the 150gr, 7mm Sirocco bullets a few years ago. Plenty accurate enough on the range, especially for a hunting rifle. Performance on deer is similar to the Nosler Ballistic Tip of the same weight. Lots of internal damage, with an exit hole. I haven't recovered one yet. Most...

    Developing Loads for the .25-6.5PRC

If it were me, I'd look at neck reamers instead. Take the extra brass from the inside, instead of chasing it around from the outside. I use the ID reamer when I made 6.5mm Rem Mag brass from 7mm Rem Mag. Lots of trimming on that one!!!

    Rifle Identification?

Interesting!! Looks like it might possibly be older than the 1940s. But the "serial" number kinda throws things off as they weren't required until the 1960's. Possibly was a military firearm? They were known for using 4 digit codes. Mostly I believe to keep the various parts together for the...

.308 Stevens 334 ongoing thoughts and review.

Thank You and @Steiny77 for the reviews! I've been thinking about getting one to use as a "donor" action for a build. Wonder if there's a long action in the 334?

    Hammer vs Barnes question???

The Hammer or Cutting Edge will work fine if not going through heavy bone. They are both designed to go in about 3", then the petals open and shear off, radiating outwards. Essentially turning one bullet into 5, or 7. But I've shot through the front leg bone with a 115gr, 25 caliber and...

    Hammer vs Barnes question???

It takes years. But the original Barnes X came out in the early 80's if I recall correctly. So they would have had enough time.

    Straight walled rifle?

Do tell!! I have a 6" Taurus Judge that's minute of deer at 100 yards.

    Straight walled rifle?

There is always the 357 Maximum. Think elongated 357 Mag.

    Hammer vs Barnes question???

Not with bullets. I go through them too fast. Lol But I have experience with copper (not just copper does it) age hardening in the aviation field. Quick heat up to glowing then let cool anneals it. Don't quench!

    Straight walled rifle?

You could also use 45 Colt. Have to buy a new rifle. I really don't see a down side there...😉

    Hammer vs Barnes question???

I don't often use lead free bullets. But when I do it's either Hammer or Cutting Edge. I'd use the original Barnes "X"bullets. They were originally designed to shed their petals. But by now the copper would have age hardened. With the performance I've seen with the modern Barnes bullets...

    .270 or 30-06?

In my youth (1980's), I had and hunted with a Savage 110 in 30-06. After owning it for a few years, I invested in getting the barrel threaded and installing a muzzle brake. Some of the best money I ever spent! Hunting Maryland, the 165gr Nosler Ballistic Tip did an admirable job! 50 yards to...
