    Building your own stock

I built one for my 10/22. It had the crappy plastic stick and figured why not. First time trying stock building, so it was a learning experience. It definitely isn’t perfect, but overall I’m happy with it and like it better than the factory one. I figured I letting the action was the biggest...

    Salary & benefit negotiations

When looking at pto remember that private is different from the military world. Having family in the military I believe if you are gone over a weekend that counts as pto. They tend to look at 4 weeks as 28 days. Private world typically 20 days is 4 weeks as weekends don’t count.

RIP Garmin Inreach … iPhones to allow satellite messages in ios18

I have a 15. When I opened up texts while out of service it popped up a turn satellite messaging on button at the top of the screen. Hit that and it was in satellite mode. It would stay in it until I went into settings and turned it off.

RIP Garmin Inreach … iPhones to allow satellite messages in ios18

It worked well for me. Put it satellite mode and leave it there and I could send and receive messages. Had to remember to turn satellite off when I got back to reception or it would stay in that mode.

Favorite 100% copper bullets for 300 Win Mag handloads?

168 ttsx has worked well for me.

    Woodworking Hunt Talkers?

I’ve got a ridged hybrid saw with a cast too. Served me very well. I upgraded the fence. In my opinion upgrading the fence on a decent saw can make it a great saw.

    traeger type grills cheap versions

I’ve got the camp chef and like it. Wonky complaint is the Wi-Fi cuts out on it sometimes. I’ve seen tutorials on how to replace the antenna so it works better

    300 win mag rifles

I’ve got a savage 111 that I like a lot and shoots great. My buddy just picked up the ruger American in go wild. That one comes with a muzzle brake. I shot his and was amazed how well the brake worked. It really tamed down the recoil compared to my 111 with a brake. It also shot great out of the...

CPW seeks public feedback on big game hunting license distribution

No, I would apply. But being a draw system inevitably there would be years you wouldn’t draw. One of the great things about Colorado is the ease of access to hunting. Wouldn’t want that to go away. It’s worth the congestion to me.

CPW seeks public feedback on big game hunting license distribution

I’ll be the contrarian and say I hate the idea of eliminating otc tags. As someone that can’t travel to hunt, the ability to annually pick up an otc tag guarantees the ability to hunt. Yes there is a sea of orange, but at least I’m out there with a tag. Usually the amount of people drops...

    Too much success, too early?

Having grown up without ever getting the chance to fill my tag as a youth, I want to try and help my son have that opportunity while hunting together. It doesn’t matter how impressive that animal is to others, I know my son will be happy with anything. Were planning to go the cow tag route to...

    Wearing Contacts in the Backcountry?

After fighting for years to get them as clean as possible, I went and got lasik. It is so much nicer to wake up and see. I always had problems with dirty contacts no matter how careful I was.

What Hunting Boots do you wear?

Scarps kinesis fit my feet well. But it’s more important to find a manufacturer that has a last that fits your feet. Then anything else. I tried multiple brands unt I found the one that fit me best.

If you try the cooler truck, please post how well it works. I’ve got some of the hunter and wondering the same question you are.

Mine is to finish working up my new 300 mag load. Getting close, just have to fine tune.

    Goldendoodles

We’ve got one and for a family dog they are great. Haven’t had any of the weirdness others have described. Liked to chew on everything as a puppy, but grew out of that pretty quick. We got one due to allergies, but wouldn’t hesitate to get another.

    Woodworking Hunt Talkers?

I’ve always thought the router is the most dangerous tool in my shop. The hand tool looks nice, might have to try that on the next one.

    Woodworking Hunt Talkers?

Thanks. I made a router jig and snuck up on it. The tapered barrel was a bit tougher trying to get the lines right. Cut it on the router small and used a dremel and sanding to get it where I wanted it.

    Woodworking Hunt Talkers?

Lots of cool stuff here. Always fun to see others projects to come up with inspiration for your own. My last two below. Planning to build a stock for my 300 mag but wanted to practice on something else first. Laminated a few walnut boards for the 10/22. My son saw it and claimed it as his own.

CO Springs - What to do?

That’s a place I haven’t thought of in a long time. Might as well add Michelle’s and red top to that list. Another good local joint is Paninos.
