Quite a bit of flooding on the Coeur d Alene river. It appears that the river peaked at just over 46ft and record flood level is 53ft. I would assume a large amount of washouts and slides back in the mountains that we won't know about until spring.
A lot of money to be made on fires by contractors. Crew guys can make around $5k a week with per diem. One logger said he was getting paid $50k a day for the equipment he had at a fire in CA for 7 days. That was to have it on site, he would have been paid more if it was unloaded from the trailer.
I don't have kids but enjoyed hunting with a friend and his 16 yr old son the 5 days before Thanksgiving. The 16 yr old nailed a
yard shot and got his first bull elk - a raghorn. His shooting was beyond my current comfort distance but they had the gear and practice to do it. I was impressed...
My mom's side of the family came from the Iron Range in MN so always felt a connection to this song. She saw Gordon Lightfoot in concert in the late 70s somewhere in Minneapolis.

I grew up in Lake Superior agate country. My younger brother has buckets and buckets full. He had access to a few local gravel pits. I don't have many pics - found the big one while spring turkey hunting and walking across a plowed field. Happened to kick it loose and noticed the agate color.
