    Any hockey fans out there?

TWO of the hottest goalies in the league and their young players with oodles of talent are starting to play better--and a few key guys coming back from injury--the near future sure looks good! Still a player or two away but they will have the money to remedy that if they choose right!

    New to ML hunting

45 caliber, open sites...if you have the right rifle with newer bullets and have a place to sight in at distance and can estimate distance and the steep drop at distance And estimate any wind drift...theres still the matter of energy at distance being enough to insure a clean kill. Not sure a...

    Black powder substitutes?

Well I made the switch to white hots and liking it in two ways...it is quite a bit cleaner than triple 7 pellets...given i had a hell of a time getting a 2nd load down when i didnt drop a deer on the spot using 777....that matters to me. And at least in my short sight in period it sure seems...

Whats with E bikes in whitetail hunting?

Cant imagine my state is much different than other northern states. We have a lot of motorized trails and roads that are closed in spring to prevent damage. These are NOT non-motorized, just seasonally closed to motorized. Bikes are generally ok and e bikes have a power and speed limit in...

    CWD research

Link...this writer does a good job summarizing the situation. .. https://www.antigojournal.com/sports/outdoors/durkin-cwd-stifles-deer-herds-in-wisconsin-s-ground-zero-counties/article_a432099e-c08e-11ef-86f1-93941b9b68c1.html

    CWD research

Any of you western folk follow findings out of WI? If not, you should.

    CWD research

I might take a more nuanced view than the OP, but I have some problems with its presentation. I might have some bias, as the same group has been working on a live test for CWD for which IMO claims have been stretched -- and their work has been grabbed by deniers and captive deer folks as reason...

Mike Lee is back with Border Lands Conservation effort to derail the Wilderness Act.

Just hit the news here...the BWCA is projected to be heavily impacted. I might have to get one of those Mike Lee hats. The US rep in the area is all for it (Stauber). Literally done nothing for his constituents, toes the extreme line well though...and has a nice habit of praising projects...

Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

Catching Up on this. Several things. Tuition at the university of Minnesota = $16,500 for residents. A year....unless you are poor. Just guessing but re: my earlier point I'd assume the bottom line cost between Mn and Wyoming isnt much different, but state support is. Also this was our...

    Interesting Reuters chart.

Relax, Everything is Going to be Okay!

This ignores one real factor--the contribution towards tuition each state offers. Until recently--when they went too far IMO (just waiting for a court challenge)--my state had cut that amount drastically, even when adjusted for inflation. State to state differences in cost are steep due to the...

What 100 year old cartridges do you use

Interesting one I think that wasnt sold until the 70s or 80s, was a wildcat starting in the 20s I think.

What 100 year old cartridges do you use

Yea I think some people are stretching it. The only one I can claim is my trusty 06 mountain rifle. I have a 257 Roberts but that was only a wildcat 100 years ago....commercially it wasnt available until the 30's when Remington started it.

Anybody Buying Yet? Where’s the Bottom?

Some new highs in the stock market. Big layoffs being announced. Inflation up, national debt up to staggering numbers...much of the market driving by one thing that's drawing more and more negative public attention.... IMO if ever there was a time to pull back and worry...

Lever Guns, what would you choose & why?

That would be my ideal as well, although these days I prefer guns I can pass down to grandkids and I am not keen on the Henry's safety design.

Audit report out of MN...PR grant misuse

And wildfire danger is incredibly overblown. Popular thing for the timber industry to complain about though. No one stops to think that the places that have had severe wildfires recently have a lot of dead timber--because the industry would not buy that wood when it was offered to them! They...

Audit report out of MN...PR grant misuse

You must be looking at national forest management? They could be cutting more in some places--some of that ain't their fault the industry won't buy their wood in places--but they generally do a good job. County lands are hit and miss, but generally they are managed fairly intensively for...
