    6.5 CM, 6.5 PRC Enough/Effective for Elk?

My 6.5 PRC has taken elk from 35 out to 700 yards without issue, just pick the right bullet. I have had success with the 127 Barnes LRX and the 143 Hornady ELDX. The rifle shoots the 147 ELDM great as well, I just haven't used it on game.

    Snow, plow, snow, plow, repeat

This is the way. Nothing like moving literal tons of snow 3' deep with a seat heater roaring and a hot cup of coffee.

    Colorado Otc Hunting pressure

I am telling you, with my own two eyes I have seen it happen. And in my opinion, both people are the problem. Here's a link to the CPW statistics for last year https://cpw.state.co.us/Documents/Hunting/BigGame/Statistics/Elk/2022StatewideElkHarvest.pdf , go look and you'll find that most units...

    Colorado Otc Hunting pressure

No, I wouldn't. However I live at 8k ft in elk country, so a lot of the advice is see online is laughable already. Plenty of people do actively search things out by unit number though, as evidenced by the thread views vs replies on almost every thread that has a unit number in the title. If...

    Colorado Otc Hunting pressure

There's some good irony in non resident hunters saying that posting unit numbers doesn't matter in response to resident hunters saying it does. I've seen spots get mentioned on shows/podcasts/forums get blown out and filled up with trucks. You think guys that are going to spend 20 hours in a...

School me up on buying a 4 to 6 ton excavator and mulching head

I went down this path before I bought my current machine and trailer. I'm getting a CDL to be done with all the nonsense, finding a trailer & machine that does the work desired and is still 100% legal is a pain. I haven't had any issues getting pulled over or weighed, but if I were I wouldn't be...

School me up on buying a 4 to 6 ton excavator and mulching head

Pin/tongue weight is on the truck, not on the trailer axles.

School me up on buying a 4 to 6 ton excavator and mulching head

I haul a 4 ton mini (Cat 304E2) on a 15900 GVWR trailer, puts me at 25,900 lb rated capacity with the truck. I do this/similar work in CO, if it's not going to end up doing any work in your yard or on grass that you care about I would switch to steel tracks. The increase in traction on slopes...

    Colorado Elk Unit 24

He already gave you the unit number, ranch names, and a general plan of attack after having "spent a fair amount of time in the area, and have patterned the elk using a few of these drainages to get to and from feeding. They feed onto a private ranch on the valley floor. My plan is to pick a...

    Starlink?

We're coming up on a year of Starlink and have had maybe 20 minutes downtime total in that period. It has held up through blizzards, 40+ mph winds, torrential rains, etc... without skipping a beat. My wife uses it daily for telehealth video calls without a hiccup, and it streams 4K video just...

    Starlink?

Funny; my brother has Tesla solar at his house, a Tesla in his driveway, and I can see my Starlink antenna from where I sit currently. Guess we're just hallucinating, it's cool through because in my hallucinations I've seen giant rockets than can land themselves and then be re-used, maybe...

    Legal? Who is shooting?

Straight from page 36 of the 2021 Big Game Brochure. There should be zero debate or question, it's a legal bull.

Co Gun bear with archery elk allowed?

You can do both as long as you follow all the rules for both; meaning if you're carrying a rifle (even strapped to your pack) you'll need all the appropriate orange. Also don't forget if you tag a bear, you'll need to come out of the woods to check it in at a CPW location.

Colorado 3rd Season Elk GMU 4 or better?

Went ahead and helped you a little bit there. DON'T GIVE OUT SPECIFICS ON THE OPEN INTERNET, especially OTC units. A 5 second google search now with Unit * and mule deer or elk will bring this thread right up. If you were planning on coming back from out of state to hunt that area again, guess...

Unit 14 Co. and general area

I'd look elsewhere, 14 is not what it used to be in terms of population and quality. It will also be covered up with people wanting to hunt the burn scar from last year.
