6.5 CM, 6.5 PRC Enough/Effective for Elk?
My 6.5 PRC has taken elk from 35 out to 700 yards without issue, just pick the right bullet. I have had success with the 127 Barnes LRX and the 143 Hornady ELDX. The rifle shoots the 147 ELDM great as well, I just haven't used it on game. -

I'm getting a CDL to be done with all the nonsense, finding a trailer & machine that does the work desired and is still 100% legal is a pain. I haul a 4 ton mini (Cat 304E2) on a 15900 GVWR trailer, puts me at 25,900 lb rated capacity with the truck. Co Gun bear with archery elk allowed?
You can do both as long as you follow all the rules for both; meaning if you're carrying a rifle (even strapped to your pack) you'll need all the appropriate orange. Also don't forget if you tag a bear, you'll need to come out of the woods to check it in at a CPW location. -

Unit 14 Co. and general area
I'd look elsewhere, 14 is not what it used to be in terms of population and quality. It will also be covered up with people wanting to hunt the burn scar from last year.
