The things we did, for a cow elk.

Congrats. How many points did it take to draw the cow in 061? I know the bull tags there are hard to come by.

    My First Bull

The hunt this year did not require points. That being said, the efforts that had to be made to get on bulls were fairly insane and the crowding was disheartening. I plan on spending my 5 points next year on something that would really only require 1-2 points. Then every other year I can spend...

    Help with Colorado Hunt

I would recommend a Wyoming doe hunt. You should get a tag, the cost is minimal, and there is way more public land opportunity/more animals than CO.

    My First Bull

Colorado is insane. The hunting here sucks in my opinion. I am cashing in my Colorado points next season and concentrating on a quality hunt in a different state for sometime in the future. There is simply no limits in Colorado and everyone in the country is coming here to hunt now. The only...

    First elk!! AZ GMU 9

You should not say "only a cow." They are still a huge challenge to hunt. Congrats! First elk is a huge accomplishment.

    My First Bull

It is with the meat now but I should have put it in there in the first place. I initially tagged the antlers so anyone who saw it would know that it was claimed.

    My First Bull

It was a reallllly old bull I think. His teeth were real worn down and his ivories/antlers were so dark.

    My First Bull

I grew up hunting but gave it up in high school because no one I knew hunted or had any desire to hunt. Your social life suffers if you are gone every weekend evening hunting. However, in 2010 I moved out to Colorado for work and started getting into hunting and fishing again. It started out...

    Wyoming wilderness guide rule poll

It would be interesting to see a constitutional challenge to it. I could see equal protection and right to travel issues implicated.

Guided Hunts--when would or have you done them?

I did a guided pheasant/chukar hunt that was part of a charity silent auction win I had. Neither myself nor anyone I know knew how to bird hunt or had ever gone before. I did it for the charity reason and because I wanted to experience what it would be like with the dogs to find out if it was...

My Story from Colorado - Year of the Hunt - 2017 (Part 1)

Thanks for reading! I'll post eventually on the 2019 plans but I have A LOT of tags. 2 pronghorn doe tags in Wyoming, mule deer buck tag Wyoming, 2 elk tags in CO, and two deer tags in CO (buck and doe). My freezer is almost completely out of game meat, so I am very excited for the upcoming season.

My Story from Colorado - Year of the Hunt - 2017 (Part 1)

Next came big game season. I had scored an archery deer tag for GMU 47, 43, 471 that year and went out only about 3 or so days due to work commitments. I saw a lot of deer and had an amazing opportunity on an enormous mule deer buck in GMU 43, but I could not put the shot together. I was still...

My Story from Colorado - Year of the Hunt - 2017 (Part 1)

So I grew up in the Midwest, Wisconsin. We had 85 acres of land in central Wisconsin that primarily served as a hunting property for us. My grandfather had purchased the property in the 1960s for nothing and at the time, it was 85 acres of mostly treeless hills and prairie. My grandfather...
