    Kuiu attack pants

I have 2 pair and one is pushing 10 years old. Love em. Overall they are my go to outdoor pant, except when it’s really hot.

    7-08 120 vs 140 nosler bt

Shoot the Accubond. They are just a dependable bullet. No complaints whatsoever. 140’s in my 7-08, 150’s in my 308, 165’s in my 06 and 300wsm. All of these have worked flawlessly at 50-400yds on whitetail and pronghorn.

    Trapping Thread 2025/2026

My middle boy wanted to give it a try this year. We have been running 6 sets of dog proofs for a week and have knocked out 7 coons. Switching over to water sets for mink, rats, and beaver this week. Big thanks to my cousin for showing him the ropes and getting me back into it.

    Hunting Leases/Kids Hunting/Drury Syndrome

Leasing land here in the southeast is becoming ridiculous. I have seen it go from asking for access, to leasing affordably, to losing leases due to agents and websites getting farmers up to $20-30 an acre. All this for killing 120-130 inch bucks. Not to mention the land is being sold off and...

Are tungsten turkey loads worth the money?

It’s expensive but it works. The “worth it” is a personal choice I guess. It’s worth it to me because it kills the hell out of birds in the 50-60 yard range.

    Antelope and Rattlesnakes

We hunted 4 days south of Casper and the only snake I saw the whole trip was in the Fish and Game office parking lot in Casper itself. Did find a lion killed Mule deer doe buried under a bunch of grass on the bank of the North Platte and no shortage of cactus.

    Compact rifle opinions

I have Tikka’s but not the compact. No issues at all with any of them. I do have an older Remington model 7 7-08 and it is one of my favorite rifles I have ever owned. 7-08 goes great in a 20in barrel. Good luck.

    Wyoming Success

We just wrapped up our Wyoming antelope hunt and were able to punch all 3 tags without too much trouble. Other than Kansas City being totally booked up on hotel rooms the trip out was uneventful. We started in Laramie and set out the first morning ready to hunt but more of a scouting day, or so...

    Tundra or Another F-150

I believe Toyota is in the process of replacing most of the 22/23 Tundra engines. So, it may be possible to find a good value on a used tundra with higher mileage and a new engine.

    Neutering an adult dog?

I had to neuter a 150lb, 5yr old Anatolian Shepherd a few years ago. No issues whatsoever.

    9/11

I was in US government class my senior year of HS. I had gotten up early that morning and ran and finished reading “Band of Brothers.” I was a little too patriotic for my own good.

The Rifle you haven’t shot in a long, long time…but should!

My percussion rifles, 2 45’s, a 50, and a 54 cal-all hawkens. My old Glenfield 30A 30-30, and my grandpas old Remington 742 carbine in 30-06. All of these guns are special to me but I rarely shoot any of them.

    The unexplained

I was leaving work early while working nights, so 3-4am. It was very foggy but a full moon. I topped over a hill in town and broke through the fog bank and circling above the town was a smaller than normal 50-100ft long, white, unmarked blimp maneuvering over the town. I pulled over and watched...

    Hawken Rifle build

Very nice. I have a safe full of cap locks and don’t shoot them enough.

    Boot Recommendations

I hear you mtmuley, and totally agree. I need more of a recommendation on fit and reliability now that I really think about it. I’m leaning toward the barksdale, schnee’s, or another set of meindl’s.
