Glad to hear it shoots. My Ridgeline 300wsm has a little bit of a stiff bolt but shoots fantastic. 150gr TSX handloads at 3175fps. It’s been bad medicine on all the whitetails I have pointed it at.
Minwax antique oil stain. I did a TC Renegade stock with it last year and it turned out great. I think I did 8 coats over the coarse of a week, letting it dry in between.
My 10 year old son is hunting with a Ruger American compact in 243. I converted it to the AICS mags just so I had one less type of mag around. It’s pretty accurate with factory and handloads, around 1MOA. He kills stuff with it and likes it. I have no experience with the savage. I would...
I really think it depends on the child. I started my oldest at 8. Now at 10 he has killed 2 whitetails and we are actively seeking a 3rd. But that being said, he is not a typical child. He is incredibly mature with an above average IQ and has been skipped ahead in some subjects in school, not to...
My Dad’s vintage Glenfield 30A. Which is just a budget 336 I believe. I’ve killed several animals with it and will kill more before it’s over. A new scope and a stock refinish and we’re still trucking along.
I put a YHM Resonator K on my Ridgeline 300wsm. It’s still kinda loud but the recoil is significantly decreased. Changed my POI a little but that is how I usually hunt with it.
I’ve seen this in Tikka’s before. I have a superlite 06 that shoots the Nosler 165 Accubond factory load exceeding well. The same round will not chamber in my uncle’s 06 T3X. It shoots other stuff well so he doesn’t mess with it. I would probably send it back.
I have always been intrigued by those MDT stocks. I almost put my 6.5 CTR in one before I sold it. If I come into another CTR in 308 I most likely will. Good choices.
Started our plants off as seeds in a greenhouse box on the porch this year. That and a new raised bed, and maybe 400-500 lbs of compost has made a huge difference. Starting seeds in that box saved us a bunch of money.
