Cost of reloading vs factory loads.

I've never calculated the savings of reloading my ammunition. That was never a motivating factor for reloading. I love spending time in my shop and trying to come up with the best loads for my guns. I would still reload even if I didn't save money. Reloading is a sanity saver for me!

    270win ammo

I've always used Federal Premium with 150 grn Nosler Partition for elk in my .270 Win. Never been disappointed with the results.

    7mm-08 vs 25-06

I have rifles chambered in all three of those cartridges (.25-06, .270, and 7mm-08)! I really like all three of them, but my .270 win is my favorite. All three of them will do what you need and more, but if ammo availability is really important to you, then the .270 is the clear choice. Good luck!

    RCBS presses

I learned on a RCBS Rockchucker as a teenager. Nothing wrong with those at all. However, I recently got back into reloading after a long absence and I bought a Hornady classic press. The only reason I bought the Hornady is that I really liked the idea of the lock n load system. After using the...

    Lee Reloading Kit?

I recently bought the Hornady Classic Kit. Just getting back into handloading after 20+ years of not doing it. I love the press! The Lock and Load system is a dream. My Grandfather had the RCBS Rock Chucker and that is what I learned on years ago. Can't go wrong with the RCBS either (just get...

    7mm-08 question

My son harvested a cow elk last year with his 7mm-08 and a Nosler 140 grain partition at 340 yards. One shot kill. We recently purchased some 140 grain Nosler Accubonds to try out as well. I would definitely stick with the Accubonds or the Partitions.

    which .270 round for moose?

+1 for the 150 grain Nosler Partition. I have never shot a moose with that load, but I have shot plenty of elk with it. Love that load in my .270!

    Nosler vs Hornady for 270

Another vote for 150 grain partition here. I have had my Remmington 700 .270 win for over 20 years and have always shot the 150 grain partition. Deer and Elk being the only victims...

    Mummy bag and bivy sack

I love Wiggy's sleeping bags. I own five of them for my family. They are excellently made and very warm. I got rid of all my other sleeping bags after I bought my first Wiggys. However, I have not used them on a packing trip. If I ever did go on a backpack hunt, I would probably still use my...
