That's what tripped me out when we started talking with friends of friends. Too many people putting in miles for a 2pt. We have only seen a couple does in 2 weekends of scouting. It's been hot and I know it will change when we start to get some weather here. -

If you're out hunting to fill a freezer, go for the more-meat option. Don't really see the benefit to shooting a smaller animal, if there is an option for bigger. I generally go for cow tags because they are easier to draw, and I always go for the 3-5 year cow for size and quality. We put 175... -

What's the longest distance you would hike for an elk?
Depends on the terrain and how much you like elk!. Last year we hiked ugly country to get into the elk. We packed out 4 miles of side hill and skree, don't know if I'd do that again. Most in a day was 8 miles up a draw, which would have been downhill back to the truck. -
