I’ve done two fly in guided hunts in Alaska. My biggest challenge is knowing I have to fly a car battery in with me for CPAP use. The added weight really puts a crimp into luxury items for sure.
Looking forward to hearing more about the hunt!

Bandana or Neck Gator
Hat
Beanie
Sunscreen
Chapstick
Gloves (even lightweight Mechanix gloves work if you’re scree-scrabbling)

I think this concept is interesting. It certainly gives a cartridge much more versatility without having to go out and buy another rifle.
Or perhaps going heavy for caliber and not giving up velocity.
Interestingly, I built a .308 with a 16.5” barrel for a dedicated silencer setup. Compared...
MT,
Nice piece of heritage there. The 7x57 will do anything you really need to do this end of the 48.
Look to some H4350 and a 139 bullet. 2700 fps will do any deer or bear in the lower 48.
7x57 simply works. Kinda like the .308 and ‘06…they just work.
I smiled at the grocery store folks and said “Thank You, it IS a good day.”
I had 20 people over to celebrate a 3 year old’s birthday…we don’t have children of our own.
I offered my home to my niece for their coming baby shower…
I offered my truck, my trailer, two dozen moving totes (small to...
How far are you shooting is the real question. Personally, I like about a 3-4" group (*or better) at the maximum distance I'm going to shoot at.
So if I'm shooting a deer at 200 yards...can my rifle group 3-4"? If yes, that's a dead deer all day long. (*most of my rifles do more like a 1"...
I prefer the grip (recoil control) and cylinder release of the Ruger GP100 but like the trigger break on the Smith more.
It’s a tough call. I have an SP101 3”, a GP100 6” (*the first of this whole passel), a GP100 3” .44 Special…two J-Frames, an L-frame 9mm 2.5” bbl (*fun!), an N-frame .45...
