    Moose - Lets see em!

I can post the full story later but here's my CO bull from a few weeks. Probably the only chance I'll ever get to hunt moose and it was awesome.

Who picked up a CO bull moose tag today?

Got lucky and pulled a tag for 471/47/444. It's only the second season for this tag so not a lot of historical info. Luckily I live in Aspen and spend a lot of the summer working in 47 and 444 so I'm looking forward to the scouting almost as much as the hunt.

    Hunting Lions Without Dogs

Always wanted to try it without dogs but haven't had the time yet. This guy has a ton of good info and makes calls that mimic lions, which he has had some success with. He used to post on 24hourcampfire but I haven't been there in a while so not sure if he still hangs around there. RainShadow...

Colorado bowhunters, please grab a bear tag too

In the last 10 years hunting high country rifle or muzzy hunts almost every year around here I've always had a bear tag and had a similar experience. But two years ago in Sept, the one year I didn't have a tag of course, I watched 3 bears spread out in a line about 400yds apart feed on a slope...

    Quit hunting

x2. I was an adult onset hunter (late 20's) but growing up on a farm in VA I always wanted to hunt even though my parents didn't. I got to tag along a few times with family friends but soon puberty/lacrosse/girls hit and I didn't think about it until my wife and I moved to Aspen and I brought...

    Law enforcement on wildlife refuges

Everyone's favorite Chaffetz tried this with HR 622 for FS LEO's back in 2017 but it never made it out of committee.

    Mule Deer calls?

Anyone ever tried rattling for them? There's a spot I drew a third season (CO) tag for this year that in years past I've seen bucks grunting and chasing each other (although no actually fights) by closing weekend. Two ran around me for 10min like I wasn't even there at one point. I've wondered...

    Mountain lion calling

Rain Shadow Game Calls http://www.rain-shadow.com/ He used to hang out on 24hr campfire site. He has tons of good info and calls. I have one of his calls but haven't had a chance to use it. He used to have the audio for a few seminars he did at Cabelas in WA that had tons of info and stories...

Park City Employee & Husband Charged

Haha, no shit. The guy is a known asshole with a holier-than-thou attitude even among skiers. I had heard that when they served the search warrant they found other hunting gear that had been stolen from other hunters. On the other hand I have also heard that the hunter in question was a known...

Water - how do you carry it?

I've never tried the Cambelback Military ones but I got one from a company, Source Tactical out of England, that makes them for the military. I forget where I heard about them but their bladders have proven pretty indestructible over the last 5 years I've had it. I've destroyed my share of...

    Retirement options

CO is getting more and more crowded so while I don't begrudge anyone wanting to move to our beautiful state, I'm not exactly leading the marketing efforts either. That being said our winters, especially on the Front Range or West Slope(Grand Jct, etc) can be very mild with little snow. I mean...

    ATV's going up horse/human trail

Not sure where you're at but in CO if you can get a picture of the registration # sticker, which is supposed to be visible, of the vehicle with GPS info the Forest Service will just mail them a ticket. At least that is how it works with snowmobiles in the winter here, I would have to imagine...

    Neil Gorsuch SCOTUS Nominee

She also worked as administrator for the EPA from 81-83 and tried to dismantle it from the inside. From a Slate Article: "Anne Gorsuch slashed EPA’s budget by 22 percent and aggressively rolled back clean air and clean water rules and other protections. A lawyer herself, she apparently did not...

Bad roads, mosquitos, and good wind

Strong work again, as usual, I never get tired of reading your posts. Your trophy room must look like a damn zoo by now.
