Soliciting help/thoughts for my 11 points

Rifle will be the focus as I hunt solo but could do archery also. Plenty of time as I am retired.

Soliciting help/thoughts for my 11 points

I have been lurking on this site for years and joining in when it made sense. Hunting elk is my thing even though I am not very good at it. It is just an indescribable high for me. I solo hunt and at age 62 life could throw me a curve at most any time. I have always rifle hunted for elk as...

    Forest Service Issues ‘E-Bike’ Guidance

As stated earlier. "Electric cars are still cars". E-bikes are motorized. At 62 I have to train year around to access the areas I like to access and an E-bike would make it lots easier but that doesn't make it right. In my mind it is OK to keep the best parts of nature open only to those who...

    Colorado ML set up

Unsolicited additional info. I also hunted ML CO last fall on a public land DIY hunt. 300grain Thor and Blackhorn 209 in my Omega. Rifle was loaded the morning of day 1 and remained loaded with that initial load and fired without hesitation on the morning of the 9th day. Worked as advertised...

    Which handgun as a backup?

First gun, a S&W .38 special with a 4" barrel. Model 10 is easy to come by and won't break the bank, especially if cosmetics is not an issue. Or, a .22 in S&W or any of the S&W knock-offs work just fine

    New ultralight rifle

Older Sako A7 with the lighter stock. Short bolt lift and just over 7# with a 40mm Leupold on it. Both mine are way more accurate than me.

    More attacks on easements?

Just emailed Rep. Stauber and requested a reply to my letter. My thought process in requesting a reply is it makes elected officials think a bit more and opens dialog for more conversation on the issue. Especially when I receive a form letter reply, which always deserves a pointed second email...

    Sh*t our wives do...

My wife is a wonderful cook, fastidious housekeeper and life partner. She has put up with my hunting obsession's, dirty bird dogs in the house, butchering in the kitchen and me for 40+ years. She has never said no to a proposed hunting trip or begrudged me anything. I thank God daily for her...

    WTB Hornady FSB ML Bullets

Thank you for the offer and please accept my apology for not getting back to you. I forgot to check this forum. As it turned out the FSB gave me a lot of frustration. 12 shots in a 7" group with some touching and some spraying. I've gone in another direction with better success.

    WTB Hornady FSB ML Bullets

Looking for some .50 caliber Hornady FSB 350 grain muzzle loader bullets. If you have some that you are not going to use or know where I might find some, please let me know. Thanks in advance. I have 12 Federal 270 grain Bor-Locs that I can trade if your interested as they don't shoot in my ML.

    Where is all the ammo?

Crazy times we are in and they just got crazier this past week.

Which nosler bullet do you prefer?

Accubonds or partitions, whichever is most accurate from said rifle.

I hate to do this, but “buyer beware”

They do not have a great reputation on ar15. Unfortunately you sometimes get what you pay for. BUT, no excuse for poor customer service.

    Shotgun?

Check out a few LGS and see what feels best. Probably won't be your last shotgun so buy wisely and then resell if necessary.
