    Pet Insurance?

    This picture was taken last year. The setter got ahold of a porcupine while we were grouse hunting. The vet bill was $700. So far this year I’ve managed to keep the dogs away from them, but it’s just a matter of time till it happens again unfortunately.

    Does anyone know if the insurance policy they have covers porcupine quill removal? Porcupines are pretty common in my neck of the woods. That alone may make an insurance policy worth while.

    It’s not easy to find a dealer that will pay above spot as most dealers sell coins for spot + X (eg spot + $90 for gold 1oz coin). If the dealer pays above spot he’s cutting into his own profits. I’ve sold to Apmex in the past and been happy with them. You could try eBay or similar auction sites...

    SPOT device vote of No Confidence

    I have unfortunately had similar experience with a Spot unit failing to once send a successful “check-in” message over the course of an entire week on a Canadian wilderness trip. Thankfully we never had an emergency situation arise. However, that experience completely derailed my trust in Spot.

    I have a S&W 629 Classic 6” that really likes Hornady XTP 240gr. I don’t think you could really go wrong with just about any 240gr lead soft nose round within realistic handgun ranges.

    Just for fun here is a picture of my Remington 700 AAC SD in 308 with a Silencerco Specwar 7.62 can and a Nightforce SHV 4-14x56. I haven’t taken any big game with it yet but it is deadly on groundhogs. ;)
