The Walmart sale would probably be a Rem......my thinking....trade for a newer Ruger already threaded, trapper.....better long term value I think.......enjoy
I love what Henry represents.....however, in 45-70......I'd choose a Ruger Marlin stainless....I have a 2004 JM...but no reason to wait as Ruger has truly perfected the rifle.
And I want to say again...can't say enough good things about the Ranger Point Precision trigger replacement....easy to do even for me.......wonderful results...from a horrible 7 lbs. floppy to a crisp break 3.5 lbs.......makes it almost fun...if one can say that for a 45-70!
My one and only current hunting tool....Marlin 2004 JM GS 45-70....utilizing soft recoil hard hitting Hornady Monoflex 250 to 200 yards...with a transformational Precision trigger replacement.
Though not a 'designated' one shot, my only rifle I utilize for current western hunting is a 45-70 for which, if you calculate the cycle time following the significant recoil and adjustment of rifle takes almost just as long as a single shot with rapid reloading skills.

Yep.....different grains weight of powder and types of powders in each...offer differing velocities....also the way the bullet is placed in the casing (depth, etc)
