Bow setup for 2015 elk hunt

I shoot at longer distances than I plan on shooting game at because it makes the closer shots easier. If your max your hunting at is 40 shoot at 50. You may not group well at 50 but your groups will get better when you shoot at 40 and such

Anyone with 1st hand experience? (Bow manuf question)....

Shoot every now you can get your hands on several times.. You will know when you find the right one. For me that was Mathews.. And surprisingly the worst how I shot was a Hoyt. But a bow is a very personal choice and as every one feels the bow differently the one for you is the one that feels...

    Knight Ultra Light

I have an older mk85 lightweight with the wood stock and I love it light easy to hold steady a little bit of a pain to clean but that's minor. And mine has a great trigger

    VX2 vs. Redfield Revolution

While I would say VX-2 you really need to look at them side by side outside too most places will let you do that. I did this with Binos comparing Vortex to Zeiss and Leica. Only you can decide how big the difference in clarity is and if it's worth it to you the extra cost

Best all-around rifle for hunting in Montana?

What about the browning micro Midas? As for lightweight I'm pretty happy with my Forbes. And I can't stress enough a good quality trigger

    Range finder help

I went with the vortex over the Leica because a leica doesn't work for archery also...

Rem mountain rifle vs Kimber montana

I can tell you Sako customer service is shit... I had a stainless Hunter that I sold after trying to deal with their customer service. Their book said I needed a custom bit to adjust the trigger so instead of trying something different and damaging it I called and asked for the tool, they told...

Any Experience with Forbes, or NULA?

I went with a Forbes and I am very pleased with it, I passed on the Kimber because the barrels are hit or miss. You either get a shooter or crap and one they won't stand behind. Plus the Forbes has the caliber I like, 6.5x55 and a much better trigger and cheaper to boot

    FORBES production rifles llc

My question is why is your brass that loose that your bolt flops open? I have a Forbes and love it, guess what the bolt has never budged on a hunt, my dad has a 68' Rem 700 and never heard him have this issue either. Properly sized brass shouldn't let the bolt flop should take a bit of effort...

    Favorite Elk Calibers

Guess I don't understand the need for such large calibers and super heavy bullets. Good bullets and proper shot placement. 6.5x55 shooting 120 GMX I'm safe to 500 yards, anything beyond that and you start to stretch ethical hunting

    Antelope/Mule Deer Caliber Recs

At that range a creedmore, 260 or swede with a GMX or similar in the 120 range will be more than atiquate. I'm using 120 GMX in my swede and won't hesitate to shoot at bull elk out to 400 yards.

    .260 load for elk

While I'm not shooting a .260 I am shooting a relative in the swede. I would highly recommend looking at the GMX bullet. And of that I would look at the 120's. On deer and antelope I have have 200 yard clean pass throughs. I actually passed through both shoulders of a 200lb buck this last fall...

Best all-around rifle for hunting in Montana?

I will throw into the hat for an excellent low recoil all around rifle the 6.5. Creedmore, 260 or the swede. Low recoil and a 120 GMX will devaste deer, antelope and elk
