I really hate to talk bad about Fords (since I own a few), but I would never buy one with a 5.4 engine. I've worked on my fair share of them for friends and family and saw everything from blown spark plugs to cam phazer issues to worn cam journals requiring head replacement. If I were buy a...
Mechanical engineer, specializing in hydraulic system design for a mobile crane OEM. Spent most of my college days as a part time heavy equipment mechanic, then went full time in a service truck for a few years after graduation. Got tired of chasing broken machines so I decided it was time to...
Kenetrek Mountain Extremes 400g is what I use and absolutely love them for elk and deer hunting. They’re amazing for side-hilling as they don’t let your ankle roll and they dig in to keep you from slipping. Also, get a 1/2 size larger than your foot measures for toe room when going downhill...
^+1 for the hopper-dropper rig. I fished a small stream in Montana 2 years ago after I filled my elk tag with this setup and couldn't keep them off the line. It was late October and unusually warm so the hoppers were still out in full force. Trout fishing is good in the PA limestone streams...

Surf fishing for anything is a blast. I love fly fishing for trout, but when I get a chance to hit the Outer Banks in October I take full advantage. It's amazing the number of different species that can be caught in the same ecosystem.
Another vote here for the FHF. Keeps them nice and tight to your chest. It lacks extra pockets large enough to carry anything else, but that's what a backpack is for. I don't have the rangefinder case, but that would be about the only thing I'd consider adding to it.
My vote is the .270 Win with a 130gr projectile. I started with 150’s, but couldn’t get reliable expansion on thinner skinned game like whitetail deer. Loaded up some rounds with Sierra game king 130’s and never looked back. Works great in the PA hardwoods.

Nice rifle! Gotta love those old TC’s. Being from PA, we always have a tradition flintlock season for a few weeks after Christmas. It’s about the most fun (and frustration) that could be had deer hunting. Usually a bunch of us gang up and get the herds moving, but they’re super weary by that...
