I used to hunt with .22 LR handguns for small game, as well as .38 Special. I have used .44 Magnum, .357 Magnum, 9mm and .45 ACP to take game, and shoot dogs killing out cattle. I have shot critters with other calibers, but I was not specifically hunting.

I did compare both as well as their direct competitors from Leica and Zeiss. All are quite superb, all have pro's and con's but at the end of the day I bought the pair that suited me from an ergonomics, optics and feel good perspective.

That way I can Taylor the fps anywhere I want from 1000fps to 3000fps.
You can get 4000fps out of a 223 with a 40gr...
