Appreciate all the comments guys. I already have a gift planned for the conservation agent that helped me and am going to write the story up along with my thanks and photos to send to his supervisors. AND, if y'all ever lose a set of turkey spurs or something Alabama, let me know..... ha.
Thanks for dumbing that down for me to understand. Ha. That just gets me more excited to have it done. The night time driving improvement with reducing the astigmatism is a whole other bonus.
Agreed. Amazingly good guy that is out there going above and beyond his job as a conservation officer. I need to get him something good...
I owe y'all a picture for having to read about my mess. Here's the elk they belong to. It's an awful special one for me. I'm 5 years into elk hunting...
Y'all won't believe this, but I just thought to reach out to the county conservation officer this morning.. He called me back and we face-timed in the parking lot as he picked up both ivories and is mailing them back to me. I'm on cloud 9.
Mr. Martin, again, thank you for your offer, it was...
Your age, at least 20/40 vision, and cornea qualities are primarily what they assess. I'm sure there's other things they look at too. Last time I asked, they said something about my astigmatism but I don't remember how that plays in.
I'm going on 39 and supposed to be a good candidate. I think it's time. Contacts and I don't get along anymore anyway. This thread is good motivation. I've only ever met one person who had it done. Nice to hear all of the accounts here.

That is incredibly generous and I really appreciate that offer. I am hoping it doesn't come down to that but I had thought about trolling ebay for a pair if it comes down to it. Very kind of you.
Long shot here.... I know, but...
I made it back to Alabama and I have come to realize that I lost my elk ivories when my 'skull boiling tote' fell out of my car as I was rotating ice in my coolers at a stop off i-70, exit 193, in Warrenton Missouri (about 30 min. west of St. Louis). I picked...

I use a 32 oz nalgene in a pocket on my pack belt, a sawer squeeze filter (not the mini), and a 64 oz. sawyer water pouch. That has served me well for years. You just cannot let the sawyer filter freeze. It lives in my cargo pocket for the entire hunt and in my sleeping bag at night. The...
