    Buck hanging with fawns?

I'm pretty convinced it is a doe with antlers.

    Buck hanging with fawns?

I worked late tonight and ran across them. She/he is still with the fawns and the goofy horns have gotten goofier. Passenger side has gotten longer but driver’s side has not. It really screams doe to me. I didnt have my camera, so only cruddy cell phone pics.

    Buck hanging with fawns?

No pics. I saw them one more time, and have not seen them since.

    Colorado bull elk GMU 22

Another thing to consider that I just thought of…..fire damage. The place we have hunted (west of meeker, south from the white river) got decimated by the wildfire a year or two ago. Our guys don't think their properties will be “huntable” until 2028ish. Not sure the extent of the damage...

    Colorado bull elk GMU 22

I have hunted 22 twice. We hunted a mix of leased and public land, and saw plenty of Elk. You can get close to the leased land via public, but it is a really long hike and they very rarely see other hunters. Beautiful country. Grab a bear tag if they are still $100. I got one the first year...

    Tactical pants for hunting

I don't know why guys get so caught up on price. If you spend $100-$150 on a pair of pants that will last 10+ years, are they really that "expensive"? I have had my attacks for probably 5 years now. I hunt in them, and wear them to work often during pants season. They are still darn near like...

    Tactical pants for hunting

Coupled with their zip off/on base layers, its a game changer. Climb with the base layer off and the zips open, stay cool. Get to a spot where you are going to sit, and zip on the base layer without having to take your boots off.

    Tactical pants for hunting

I have darn near every brand of "tactical" pants out there. But for hunting, it's Kuiu for me. The Attack pants and the Axis Hybrid pants are awesome. Super comfortable, leg vents, great pockets and durable. The Axis Hybrids also have a waterproof seat and lower legs.

    Horseback hunting

Thanks for all the advice fellas. My brother went to MT on an elk trip over 20 years ago, and learned how to ride before he went. He has owned horses ever since. So he can teach me most everything that has been mentioned thus far. This is not a guided hunt. Just a bunch of guys that have...

    Horseback hunting

Heading to WY for an elk hunt in October. Horses are used everyday in the remote area these guys hunt. They are saying 1-2 hours every morning to get in, then again to get out. I have ridden, but its been a while. I have free access to horses and plan to start putting in time on them. How long...

    Major upgrade

I've had a VX3 on a rifle since 1997. Tons of miles on it, tons of rounds through, been dropped a few times in the woods. Never an issue. The biggest "issue" I have seen is when my buddy used a high mount in the rear and a low in the front...... It cost him almost an entire box $60...

The classic magnums - will they see a renaissance?

My 7mm rm (Browning Abolt) and 300 win mag (M70) are two of my favorites. I will continue to shoot both until they go to my boys. I have a 6.5PRC, and plan to get a 7PRC and 300PRC. I also inherited a M70 Safari Express in 375 H&H which needs a little TLC, but I am looking forward to getting...

    Hunting Rifle Triggers

I have a Timney and a Trigger Tech. 2.5ish lbs is about right for me. I have Geissele DMR in a scoped AR, which is really nice. Shockingly, the best factory trigger I have is in a shotgun. Browning Gold. Perhaps the thousands upon thousands of trigger pulls helped, but when I put the slug...

    Kuiu attack pants

I love my attack pants. As you have found out, they are great. I love the vents and the pockets. I wear them to work regularly, when it's not hunting season. Take a look at the Axis Hybrid pants. For straight hunting pants, they are my favorite.

    Buck hanging with fawns?

On the route I take to and from work, through the Cuyahoga National Valley, it is very common to see all kinds of wildlife. For those of you that are not aware, it is a 30+ thousand acre refuge in Northeast Ohio. The past two days I have seen two fawns with an adult deer, that has antlers in...
