Looking forward to hearing about it Randy. Hope you had better luck than I did. Struck out on mulies in Unit 53 last week. Still can't complain about spending a week in God's Country though :D
What the hell is your problem? Do I get on here and rag on you for hunting? Keep your damn mouth shut if you don't know what the hell your talking about. Yes, in Texas coyotes prey on dogs and cats just like they would anywhere else if given the opportunity. I didn't say that was the main part...
Once again I never said they were vermin. I only compared them to feral hogs because of their extreme numbers. Never said anything about disrespecting the wily coyote.
Who said anything about eliminating coyotes? I said I hunt them because I like to hunt. If you are against predator hunting then say so. They kill goats, sheep, calves and most often folks domestic pets. They don't want them around. Did you guys give Randy so much hell about his wolf hunt...
No dogs. They would def help up there though. Plan on taking my 2 year old lab next time. And we were using 12 gauges except for one guy who brought a .22
Made two trips to New Mexico this year. One specifically for grouse and the other for mule deer. Found plenty of them on both trips. We managed 18 between 4 hunters over 2 days of hard hunting. Found most of them around 11,500 feet or higher. Right at the timber line.
I never said I shoot everything. I hunt coyotes because I like to hunt. PERIOD. We have way too many of them where I live and that makes for some great predator hunting. And in Texas studies have shown that ranches that practice predator control- whether by hunting or trapping do have a higher...
Thought some of ya'll might enjoy Randy's insight on our show this weekend. He was nice enough to visit with us for over a half hour and we covered alot of stuff. Most of these stations will be streaming live but if your out hunting then check out the podcast next week. Anyway, here is the...
Studies vary on whether or not yotes really put a dent in the mature whitetail herd. We know they can do a number on fawns. But this video- which was apparently filmed by a South Carolina trail cam shows it's pretty clear they do successfully take down adult deer.
Time to break out the Howa...
Zim,
I saw on another post that hunted NM. I have a mule deer hunt in unit 53 next week. Scouted there in September but didn't see any good bucks. Just wondering if you are familiar with that unit. Thanks,
Cable
Yep - the book was great. He didn't sugarcoat where he came from and how he got to where he is. Even though some of the things he did were illegal. I applaud him for including that aspect in the book.
