    Emptying a mag of 9mm into a bear will change behavior more than you think. 1 bullet in the magic spot is always preferred but a lot of bullets elsewhere cause damage that adds up quickly. The more places any living animal is bleeding from the faster the blood pressure drops .

    For hunters id say a combat based tac-med course is VERY justifiable. Learn to control bleeding and how to address a sucking chest wound. Tourniquet, chest seals, quick clot, CPR... know how and when to use those. Anything else is not likely to be immediately life threatening. STOP the bleeding...

    In my camping/hiking kit i keep vaseline saturated cotton sealed inside short 1.5-2” pieces of drinking straw sealed at both ends using a bag sealer or just melt and pinch closed. U can use same meathod for lots of stuff.... asprin, soap, salt, sugar, laundry detergent, alcohol, first aid...

    Bears are much bigger than people and a charging bear does not move laterally. Police shooting encompass all types of ranges and movements... a running, laterally moving human is a VERY TOUGH, target to hit at just about and range with a pistol.
