I will probably fine a Henry or an older Marlin 39 when my kids get a bit older but I’ve always liked the .357 Mag. Seems the new Marlin 1894 would fit the bill well but a .44 mag would be close behind. Already load for both so why not?!
Always liked the idea of a .45-70 but I probably wouldn’t...
Haha, and here I figured you were tired of hearing about them at this point. If you end up trying either of them and don’t like them, I know a guy you can sell the leftovers to! 🤣
No experience with these for hunting turkeys, but every farm kid I knew growing up had a single shot .410 or 20gauge that they could keep barnyard birds falling with their own technique of reloading “fast.” I pulled doubles on flocks of birds more than a few times with the gun loaded and a shell...
I’ve been very happy at modest distances with my 150gr Nosler E-tips in my .30-06. They are expensive though and not always easy to find.
My next rifle will start with a Barnes 168gr TTSX in the same caliber and then I’ll decide which bullet stays.
Congrats on that new rifle!
It was my 21st birthday present to myself and became my daily carry gun for almost 5 years. Reloaded a lot of ammo for it. Had to be at least 1500 rounds reloaded and I had about 650 pieces of factory ammo through it for brass by the time I started loading for it. Used .357 mag cases with a mild...
I had the same 3” SP101 in .357 and literally put a few thousand rounds through it before selling it off. I liked that gun a fair bit but my hands are a bit bigger than that gun was designed for. I sold it to a cousin and keep thinking I should buy it back.
I get that! I think this year with a bit more focus on dryland trapping, I’ll try a handful of different traps to see what I like. It seems like I have a variety of traps that would work for that but I do want to try a few MB450’s eventually. Then I can simplify later with one or two...
Bought a used set of their dies and learned the sizer had a bent decapping stem. I emailed them over it and they asked to send the does to them and they’d give them a once-over. Returned with a decapping stem and they’d give cleaned everything up for me. Quality of dies have been great but...
Pretty cool to see the article about the NAPF in Outdoor Life! Way to go guys!
Edit: posted this before I saw you shared the article in the other post! Hoping it drums up more membership!
5.5” barreled Single Six is near perfection for carrying on your belt or all around fun plinking. I want to find a Bisley Single Six and chop the barrel down to 5.5”.
I can honestly say I forgot about that knife. I’ve owned it for a few years and never warmed up to it. I’ll have to pull it out and give it another try.
