Winchester Mod. 70
Within the last couple of years I have bought 2 new model 70's. A blued/walnut Featherweight in .308, and a Super Grade stainless/walnut in .264 Win. mag. 300WBY issues!!!
When I had my Mark V Sporter in .300 Wby mag, it shot 1" groups with Weatherby Premium Ammo in 165 grain Ballistic Tips. Yes, it was a mule kick off of the bench, but recoil doesn't bother me as much as it does some people. Just don't need a .300 Wby mag for where I hunt, and I made a nice...- huntnfisher

Stolen Rifle Recovered 15 years later
I used to have a Remington 700 BDL exactly like that also in .30-06, that I bought new back in the day. It was topped with a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10 50. I removed the iron sights from mine, they look so much better without the iron sights, IMO. Killed my biggest buck ever with that rifle...- huntnfisher

Same glass. VX-6HD has more features...things like alumina flip up caps, throw lever, and some have a built in electronic level. Also 6X zoom vs 5X zoom...3-18X vs 3-15X, etc.- huntnfisher

New ruger american Gen II
Sounds like a heck of a rifle for the money! I am thinking possibly a Ruger American in 7mm08 with a Mcarbo trigger spring. Would probably make a nice all weather beater gun, deer rifle!
