How was your hunt in 76 ? Did you do a drop camp ? with whom ? Or DIY ? We put in for 76 this year with 17 NR points and hoping to get as much intel as possible, seeing as most of us NR will only get to hunt it once in our lives.
I've been up soap creek road 721 several time. If you get any rain and you don't have 4x4 and chains your in for the ride of your life. The outfitter that is at the end of the road (eagle mountain outfitters) requires all clients to have 4x4 and chains. Trust me, I run a Ram 1500 with a leveling...
Same issue here, I have an undercover hard top for my truck and made my cooler so it has 1/2" of clearance. actually works great and cost me about $30 to make and is already 4 years old and still perfect. works great for big family events too. Not pretty as a store bought but work as good if not...
I've built a cooler out of plywood and 4" of pink foam board on all side and top and bottom. The key is to get a good seal from the top to body of the cooler. It's 48"x 36" x 18" plenty of room for a boned out elk and 2 50# bags of ice, or 2 boned out elk and dry ice. Even built in a cooling...
I've hunt it a few times now and can tell you GET IN shape. This unit is rough and typically not the best for a first timer. But don't be discouraged by that If you are ready for the challenge, go for it. I heard the negative comments about first timers when I was one and we were successful and...
Any of the newer Ram 1500 have only about 3/4" clearance between the tire and the upper balljoint. You have to get offset rims or wheel spacers to get the clearance needed. I went with billet aluminum spacers for like under $100
I am looking for recommendations on archery drop camp outfitters in Colorado. I prefer wilderness camps based on lack of travel options for other hunters, but am open to other lands. Also would like to be in OTC or units that typically have leftover tags. Travelling from Michigan, so distance...
The 2 bits of advice I can give are. 1) your body will only go as far as your feet carry it, so don't skimp on boots. 2) Hydrate. I bought a Sawyer Mini filter, Best $20 you'll every spend. 100,000 gallons you can run thru it. I use one of the big smart water bottles as my dirty bottle and then...
Hey guys, I am planning a DIY, solo hunt in unit 053 the first 2 weeks of the archery season. I've been looking at roads going in from Paonia to Hotchkiss. Any road conditions to be concerned with ? Not looking for any secret spots just good information to get me started. This is kind of a last...
I would consider a career change but it would be tied to the change of marital status also. The nuclear field pays way too good to walk away from. Plus living in Michigan adds to the problem.
Hey guys, I have a problem. Work requirements force us to work from the beginning of September to the middle of November. That time period iswhat is called a black out. NO vacation or time of is allowed. How can I get in my elk fix? Is there any hunts that start in mid-August? I could do a...
I have several. All are on my go-to guns and the ones that suffer from the most recoil and abuse. Never had one problem EVER. I'll admit I've bought other brands and some of them have lost zero setting in the safe. (those become toys for the kids)
Hi Randy, Just wanted to say Thanks for all you've done for the common man. Living in Michigan and being a want-to-be western hunter isn't an easy task. Hunts don't come as often as for some but still have to be thankful for the ones that do. Keep up the good work and God bless.
