New Bolt Action Rifle Recommendations
I prefer the browning x bolt 2 with the adjustable comb and adjustable length.of pull. Not much for aftermarket support though if you want to tinker with it. If you want something to tinker with and customize I'd say go with a Tikka t3x .- elkfanatic

Hanging the kill
My cooler is big enough to hang most deer whole but larger critters like elk/ pigs get quartered and hung up that way. I haven't noticed any difference in meat quality. Only difference is you have more meat exposed to air that dries out and gets that hard skin on it, which then gets trimmed and...- elkfanatic

Double Lung Hit that goes 1.5 miles??
When I started bow hunting when I was in my teens I ran with whatever cheap broadheads I could afford. Screwed em on, verified my point of impact with each broadheads/arrow on a foam block and went hunting. Had quite a few deer go what I considered extra long distances with double lung hits...- elkfanatic

How many bullets for backpack elk hunt?
10 rounds, three in mag, 7 in holder on butt stock. Have never needed more than two but I'm sure my time for a rodeo is coming at some point. Either one will do just fine in a cow elks vitals. Either one will break down a cow just fine. Me personally, given the two options would go with the 150 if it's more accurate.- elkfanatic
