I bought one at the end of last year to hunt deer in coastal Georgia (think of the thickest nasty stuff on the planet). I set it up in my yard and couldn’t figure out a way to fall out of it (I have a aero hunter kestrel). I would buy a purpose built platform because I found that setting up a...
The mount turn around was ridiculously quick. I opted to drive the cape and horns back to have them mounted in Georgia. I dropped them off the day before the start of rifle deer season here and so no one was in front of me in line. It was the guys first pronghorn so I’m super pleased with the...
Finally went Oct 18
Drove 30 hours from coastal Georgia to Wyoming on my own. Burned my hotel points to stay in a hotel and hunt public land for pronghorn. Killed a buck three days in, butchered the pronghorn, and drove 30 hours back.
Looking back I was very ambitious with the idea of using a...
Public Land Wyoming Pronghorn
First western hunt. Left my home in coastal Georgia drove 30 hours, killed the buck three days in, and drove back 30 hours.
This was an * hunt in Wyoming, I would love to see what good public access in Wyoming looks like!
Killed my first Georgia deer, spike, on public land Monday afternoon. Shot him from the ground at 8 yards and made a terrible shot. Was able to follow up with another arrow. Left him overnight and came back with my dog. Deer only went about 100 yards and is now packaged nicely in my freezer.
Decide to apply for WY NON RES Deer Antlerless & Antelope Antlerless. If I have more time I'll pick up something OTC. Get some practice later this spring traveling for turkeys. Thanks for all the insight.
I should have around a week but I plan on using a bow. So one tag would probably be best. I have thought about going for a mule deer buck but getting an antelope doe tag so the sting isn't to bad if I don't have time for both.
I have been trying to think about how to best use a combination of...
Got a honeymoon to pay for so its one tag and then buying preference points. Pushing my luck already my turkey tag starts in my first week of marriage on my future wife's birthday. I'll look more into WY pronghorn since I already have a map chip there.
I'm just getting started planning to hunt the west, just graduated from college, and I was wondering what species would you pick to start out on? I struck out on WY Elk, which I knew given the draw odds I would, and put in my "donation" for the four KY elk tags. Since I'm currently about to get...
