I bought this Ruger Hawkeye RSI .308 off the classifieds on another forum. It's a sweet little rig. I mounted a Leupold Big Bore 3x with a heavy duplex. I bought a Montana sling for it. My load is a 150gr Sierra RN, 46gr of Varget, and a WLR primer in Hornady brass. I installed Leupold Alumina...
I have no idea whether traditionally the bolts are removed or not. I couldn't see if there were bolts in the rifles or not but I do not see a bolt handle.
I loaded some Sierra 150gr .308 RN bullets for the Ruger Hawkeye RSI I bought last month. They are accurate in my rifle. I wish I had bought Hornady .308 165gr RN bullets when they were still made. My hunting shots are almost always under 100 yards.
Anyone else like RN bullets?
Thanks. The RSI is new to me. I bought it off 24 hour campfire classifieds. It had a trigger job done when I bought it. It's just a bit more than a 3# pull weight.
I have used Talley LW and DNZ mounts but not on a Tikka. I like the DNZ over the Talley mounts. My analogy of them is both are ugly, one skinny and one chunky. Pick one. It's difficult to screw up DNZ mounts. No lapping, no fuss.
I don't own any Alpha glass. That said, I use a B&L Discoverer 7x42 binocular and Leupold scopes. I like fixed 4x scopes but own some variables. I set the variables at 4x hunting. I want at least 7x for glassing and 4x is plenty for my hunting rifles. When I was younger my eyes could make up for...
I load Hornady 165gr flat base bullets in my 30-06 and get great results accuracy and terminal ballistics results. I only deer hunt with them so how they'd work on elk I can't say. I have never recovered one.
