2019 AZ Desert Bighorn - Once in a lifetime

For those asking about age, he's a 10yr old ram. One of the monarchs of the mountain range at that age.

2019 AZ Desert Bighorn - Once in a lifetime

My hunting partner and I hiked over 100 miles in 10 days to finally find a ram I really liked. We were backpacked in when I spotted this guy at the top of the mountain doing what rams do. A lengthy and tricky stalk put me on my 6.5 creedmoor at 400yds waiting for him to stand. I rested my head...

    Deer Hunting Distractions

Awesome job Randy! Many regulars here know that photo carries a lot of 'background' that goes unseen in the photo. It's nice to see that you were able to enjoy some quiet time and yet engage in a little wildlife managment along the way. Yet one thing is for sure.... That better be one heck of...

    Spot X 2 Way Messenger

I'm very interested in getting one of these. The Garmins are out of my price range when you add in the service plan. I've been running a SPOT Gen 1 for 5+ yerars and my wife loves that I can check in on solo trips. When I showed her the Spot X yesterday she gave me the thumbs up.

AZ bill to change public land ownership HB2210

If you enjoy chasing elk, mule deer, antelope and coues deer in Arizona you need to pay attention to this one. Take note of the new bill, HB2210, that just cropped up in our AZ state legislation - https://www.azleg.go...lls/hb2210p.pdf "DIRECTING THE ATTORNEY GENERAL TO COMMENCE AN ACTION TO...

    New wall tent advice

I have a 10x12 Reliable wall tent and have used it in all types of weather. From the teens and snow up on the Kaibab (Az) for my spring buffalo hunt to the heat of the deserts in southern AZ on an early deer hunt it's served us well. I ordered the angle kit and used EMT conduit for the poles. I...

    Sonoran (AZ) Smorgasbord

No joke, this is what jumped into my head when I read your post. You have far more will power than I. Guidelines or not, one does not pass on a bedded coues that's worthy of an arrow. Be safe. cmc

Maping managment - GPS waypoints & printed maps

Question for those that manage waypoints on a regular basis as well those that print out maps off the OnXmap from your computer. Background: I've been running a Garmin 60c handheld GPS (bought in 2007) using a hacked in topo map. I haven't done much of waypoint administration, I just keep...
