SW New Mexico deer question
My son drew a youth deer tag in SW New Mexico in the Gila. In looking over trip reports from others who have had this hunt, I’ve seen a couple of mule deer photos still in velvet. They also have the smallest resident population. I won't complain with these fees (too much) for the opportunity they are providing for me. They should be looking out for their residents. It shouldn't cost a lot for a resident to go hunting in their home state. Moose got to be too much for...- Bowhuntrben

Son was unsuccessful for elk and oryx but got his 3rd choice deer unit. I'll consider that a success for his/our first time applying in NM! Will have to see, but it might be possible to combine this with the cow elk tag he got in AZ, so might actually get to hunt both!- Bowhuntrben
