First kill with a Nosler etip (7mm-08 factory load). One shot into the boiler room and he only went 20 yards. Very pleased with performance. Complete pass through without a lot of extra damage and, most importantly, without dumping lead into my dinner.
I really want to join a NAVHDA chapter, but the closest one meets nearly four hours away. I may need to reserve my Saturdays off from the family for actual hunting days.
Following Wolter's fetching advice so far, and she's already exhibiting some real desire, so I'm hoping I can avoid force...
Glad I unplugged for a while. This thread got hijacked in the worst way...
Update to those who had helpful comments: a sweet 9-week-old WPG pup is sleeping next to me right now. I've already forgotten how much I paid for her!

I found another breeder breeder 1, and there’s a pup available for me, but asking $2,200...

After catching Hal Herring's interview with Malcolm Brooks on BHA's Podcast and Blast, I just finished his debut novel, Painted Horses. Highly recommend.
Well well well... I drew the Land Between the Lakes tag (with one point).
I have access to private property in the area that is frankly better hunting. But this unit is the same one where my grandfather (deceased), his brother (deceased), and my father used to set up deer camp with a...
I was pleasantly surprised by the level of figuring when it showed up. For the price, I was expecting utility grade; I think this one borders on semi-fancy.
All in, I'm right around $850 - which I consider an absolute bargain. Wood stock, blued metal, and three-position safety were must-haves...
