Chama, very sorry to hear how rudely the past year has treated you! Hope 2025 is much kinder. The javelina near Oliver Lee seemed to range south along the intersection of the Tularosa Basin floor and the base of the Sacramentos along what is called the Old El Paso Road on some maps. This quickly...
I don't bear a grudge against the charming little toots with their impossibly dainty feet, but would like to hunt them once. I'll do some research and try to find a high-odds, old guy-friendly tag to apply for here in southern New Mexico.
I'll put in some study time here...
I just moved back to New Mexico after two self-inflicted years in Texas. Dear God, what joy to live in a state with abundant public lands again! Spent most of my life in the Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon, but I am seeing many familiar names here. Hope to use the New Mexico forum to get...
Making me hurt all over for a manageable aluminum fishing boat that doesn't cost a fortune -- Lowe, Lund, Valco, Klamath, Gregor, Smoker ...
Great looking rig SilentBirdHunter. My last was a Jetcraft with a 60-horse Merc EFI four. Wonderful, versatile motor.
To Snag23, I am 71 and a UO grad who remembers those grim Frei/Enright/Read/Brooks years. If anyone had told me 50 years ago that the Ducks would be a Big 10 champion, I'd have asked what they were smoking -- and where I could get some. ;)
Hope you had a grand hunt. I would have recommended the Oso Grill in Capitan (Smoky is actually buried across the street) and Sparky's in Hatch as well. Just had another "World Famous" at Sparky's yesterday.
The name change does seem an unnecessary expense, but the changes in how game commission members are selected make sense. I don't trust any governor to make appointments in the public interest.
"However, the makeup would be three at-large members with backgrounds in wildlife issues, and four...
You do need to pay attention to the rabbit's health and, wearing gloves, examine the liver for spots. I've always heard it is best to avoid them in summer, but have no data to back this up. An old friend who had a small gun shop in Jacksonville years ago grew up on a ranch in southern Arizona...
I'm with Turbobrick, preferring the faster twist if given a choice. It may not be ideal for the very lightest-for-caliber varmint-style bullets in a given rifle, but offers some insurance if you ever find a need for the heaviest weights.
O'Connor got wonderful performance from the cup-and-cores of his day against all many of game up to grizzlies. He would be "greatly pleased" with your rifle, to use a favorite phrase of another legend, Ned Roberts.
