What are your highly educated opinions on tech in hunting?

I think its a lot more likely that it was just because he knows me personally and knows I'm a law abiding hunter. Maybe if I was a stranger he would have asked to see my license.

What are your highly educated opinions on tech in hunting?

I have not. The annoying thing is that it seems a lot of our wardens aren't on the same page with what is defined as the act of hunting. A couple of years ago I was hunting the archery opener with a friend. We met the warden on the road, chatted with him for a bit, and I asked him if he would...

What are your highly educated opinions on tech in hunting?

Using thermals to locate game animals is where it crosses the line for me. I don't care whether it's locating waterfowl or turkeys on their roost, deer in an ag field, or elk in a drainage, it's all a huge advantage over the animals. I understand thermals are a valuable tool for controlling...

    Montana Mule Deer Mismanagement

If the proposal were to be approved, most of those 150 extra rifle permit holders in 704/705 will probably have 2 or 3 people helping them. So figure at least 300 more people on the landscape on the conservative side, and a lot of them would shoot deer also.

    Montana Mule Deer Mismanagement

Guess we can’t have nice things….Might have to start a Region 7 elk mismanagement thread.

    Elk .... Let's see them!!!

Typically one of the oldest cows in the herd so the meat probably isn’t as good as the other cows. Also, the lead cow is the individual in the herd that knows how the get the herd to safety. I’ve seen some absolute slaughters when the lead cow gets killed because the herd will run back and forth...

Bowhunters - not a big impact?

I bet you're right. I put in for that tag as a way to get some hunting in before elk season opens, or as insurance in the event that I don't draw an elk permit.

Where to eat in Casper Wyoming

Wonder Bar was great, its a shame it closed. Fire Rock is good but it's loud in there. La Cocina is good.

    Kaibab Plateau Early Rifle Hunt

Unless you’re an expert at still hunting, I don’t think hunting mid day on the Kaibab would be very productive. I would think guides asking their clients to still hunt in the timber is basically unheard of.

    No King's Deer

That's the truth. Every year it seems I find out about more residents that are leasing ground. It's an alarming trend.

Extreme hunting pressure in region 7.

It would be really interesting to know how much BMA money is "wasted". I can think of one BMA in particular, where the county road runs through it with sign in boxes on each end. Nearly every hunter that drives through there stops and signs in at the box, just in case they happen to see a deer...

    Hungarian Partridge

I would say small covey, unless they were part of a bigger covey that got separated due to a hunter or other predator. I’d leave some for next year.
