We first spotted this buck about 3 weeks previously in a wheat field, he was with 4 other prickets and bucks. We noticed he was limping. We tried to stalk into them but were beaten by the weather and light.
So fast forward 3wks and the combine harvester is working the fields. The bailers...
So we went out with the intention of getting a nice palmated fallow buck before they cast for the year..
Got to our permission. Met my hunting buddy and a plan was hatched.
I would take one section and my mate would head to a high seat/tree stand over looking a wild bird seed planting.

We did a road trip about 15 years ago.
Vagas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Zion national park, back through Vagas, Death valley, then up to the High entrance (east side ) to Yosemite national Park then finished in SF.

Last Saturday saw us on our fallow ground for an afternoon stalk.
Pretty quiet, cold wind kept them in the woods. Time was getting on and the light was starting to go.
Then caught a glimpse in the thermal of a muntjac making its way along the wood edge.

The biggest trouble we have is the 'management' of the deer isn't done over a large scale area. Like the guys have said. All individual landowners can let people manage te deer how they see fit.
You are lucky if you access to large areas of land that join up. Most stalkers don't have access to...

The fallow have had a good 18 months, need a few more taken off but with the lockdown it's hard to sell them on.
Looks like we'll have to have loads of sausages and burgers for the summer.
