Just got some pics back from a snowmachine trip this past Dec. (by the way snowmachine is the Alaskan word for snowmobile)

I took it at about 10:30 (sunrise) on Dec 21st, the winter solstice.

This is the view from Moose summit on the Elliot Highway about 100 mile west and north of Fairbanks
Thought you might enjoy it

Gorgeous! So I'm guessing you didn't do the traditional nude dance to welcome back the sun? :D

Mo since you bring it up
I did have to get half undressed to a-hem...off-load some coffee. After which, and BEFORE I was re-dressed, and as I committed to the "Shake-Pivot-Zip" move, I turned and tripped on a small log under the snow and fell on my face with my important parts not quite put away.

So there I was....at 20 below, in my drawers, face down in the snow holding onto the one part I don't ever wnat to get cold. Of course there was no way I could get back to my feet and keep my "buddy" out of the snow at the same time if you know what I mean. So we did what friends do....we made a deal. I promised to move quick and he promised not to crawl up into my chest. Of course the snow was deeper than my arms are long so I had a tougher than expected time keeping up my end of the deal. After a fair amout of acrobatic flailing I managed to get to my feet not to mention managing to get...oh, say 100 pounds of snow in my underwear.

So there I am in the middle of nowhere with what feels like half of winter living in my underwear, and a lump in my throat that I'm pretty sure used to be attached further south and my two companions doing their level best not to fall down themselves while laughing hysterically.

Good thing for me that I always carry extra clothes when in the boonies. So yes Mo I did get naked on the solstice but there was no celebrating until about four hours later when my "buddy" took up residence back in my pants where he belongs.

Thank God I was the only one with a camera that trip

LMAO Damn Erik I'm dieing over here. :D I'm sure the sun god appreciated your attempt at the ritual.
